About Hector Curriel: Born in Lima, Peru, his passion for the arts started when he
was very little. His keen enthusiasm for the arts led him to develop a background
in architecture, design and illustration. Over the past two decades, Hector has
been a political cartoonist for multiple newspapers, while also working as an
illustrator and a muralist. He has illustrated three books, and is also an
accomplished school performer and holds frequent art workshops around of the
country. Hector is currently a resident of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

This document provides instructions for students to write letters to the President of the United States asking him to save arts programs in schools. It explains that some students do not have opportunities for music, art, theater or poetry classes. It gives students a 3 step process to write a brief letter expressing why the arts are important to them and include a drawing, and then submit it to their school's PTA who will collect and deliver the letters to the President. The goal is to help save arts programs through PTA Start the Art Week from October 6-10, 2008.

In 2012, they rebuilt an unsafe school in Maggiolo and held the grand opening in January 2013. They also work with the International Language Programs (ILP) organization, which sends students abroad for semester programs where they teach English and build relationships with local communities. Dominican Starfish Foundation is helping to prepare schools and housing for 24 ILP teachers starting a program in the Dominican Republic in 2015. They provide some university scholarships and also raised $16,000 to construct a library serving two communities.

These paintings became her specialty, and she continues to find inspiration from photos of children at beaches.

Jose Fernandez works as a Pastor in La Union and Montellano in the Dominican Republic. Seeing the overwhelming need of the children to get a good education and having many in his congregations and around him that couldn't attend school, he has built and organized two schools. One is in La Union and one is in Montellano. He also works as a salesman and Lifestyle Holiday Vacation Club and donates all the money he earns there toward paying teachers, buying supplies and feeding the children. He is a man with a big heart, big dreams and a huge vision.
