Expectations And Expectations In College
Expectations and Goals As a new freshman, the next four years of my life can seem extremely
daunting, with huge possibilities as to the kind of person that I want to be when I graduate.
College is known as a transformation period in the life of a young adult, and I hope to take full
advantage of this time. By setting expectations and goals for myself, hopefully I can be
successful as I seek out the person that God wants me to be. I have set up, and outlined,
academic, spiritual, and personal goals to achieve my first semester here at college. For this
semester, I have set a high expectation for myself academically. Specifically, I would like to be
able to maintain all A's, and therefore a 4.0 GPA. If I am able to do this, and possibly continue it
on through all eight semesters of my college career, I will be a more competitive applicant for PA
school, or med school, or whatever post undergraduate schooling that my future entails. Not only
would achieving this goal be beneficial to my future career, I hope to honor Christ by working
hard in everything that I do, and this is one way that I can do that. This goal is measurable
because I can regularly check my grades to make sure that I am staying on track with each class
to attain this goal. I believe that getting all A's is also achievable is I remained focused and
driven, delegating ahead of time the study time that I will need to be successful in each of my
classes. For each hour that I spend in a class, I will plan on spending at least three hours outside of
class with the covered material to be successful. This can be realistic if I am careful to make sure
that I don't commit myself too heavily to extracurricular activities. While I will be checking my
grades weekly, half–way through the semester I will evaluate my study strategies, and whether they
were successful or need to be changed to stay on target. Ultimately, I would like to see myself
meet this goal at the end of the semester and carry the habits that I have learned to the rest of my
college career. Spiritually, I know that this time is quintessential in the establishing of my faith and
walk with Christ. My goal is to set habits and practices for myself that will help me grow spiritually.

Everyone should have personal goals that evolve around anything that needs to be accomplished. I
set goals on a daily basis. One goal that I seem to have not truly focused on has been my college
education. Considering all things, I decided I needed to focus on my college education. The first
thing I needed to accomplish was to enroll in an institution for higher learning. Now that my
enrollment is complete, I am an official student at the University enrolled in the undergraduate
program for business management. As a student at the university, I now have to set personal goals
so that I will be successful in my endeavors. My personal goals are to gain personal growth and
development and graduate from my undergraduate program in business...show more content...
The most important to me while attending the University is to graduate with honors. I know that I
have the potential and what it takes to accomplish this. In order to graduate with honors I will
have to study and prioritize, taking my education seriously. By taking my academic affairs
seriously and being a positive influence on myself, I know that I will achieve my goals. This
means that I will have to complete all assignments, assuring accuracy and the quality of my work.
Assuring that I complete all assignments, I will also need to do all assignments before they are due.
This will allow me time to make sure that all corrections are done prior to me turning the
assignments in.
To help me along my journey to success, I have made two colorful, eye catching boards that I will
allow myself to look at everyday. The first goal board that I have is a weekly board that I will use
for each class. On this board I will have my individual weekly assignments and my team weekly
assignments with start and due dates. Also I will have contact numbers and email addresses for
people who will benefit me in my course. This would include all my classmates, teammates, and
instructor. As I complete an assignment I will draw a line through that assignment. The second
board that I have displays all my overall personal goals. On this board I will have an outline of all my

College Essay About Mistakes
Mistakes something that we all do. People are not perfect therefore we will all make mistakes
many times in our life. But there are two types of people in the world's ones that will live up to
their mistakes and accept that they did it so they can move on. And there are those that will never
live up to the mistakes they made and they will never be able to move on. The only way to truly
learn from a mistake is to accept that you made one. There have been many times in my life that I
have messed up and made mistakes. Some very terrible some not so bad. But none of them never
were as bad as this one but, what i learned from the mistake made it all worthwhile. I am a basketball

I would still to continue to do these things constantly. But, a worse problem know i would do them
and get frustrated with the referees even though i know i made them. Which was mad cause
eventually i got ejected from the game a few times because of me getting mad which costs us the
game a few times. One time this happened at a semi–final game where if i hadn't got ejected we
would've won. This was the biggest mistake of my life. But, it is hard in our culture not to get
mad because, you see people on tv get mad all the time for these things. So that is a reason I still
was getting mad I didn't think it was a big deal until it cost us the biggest game of my life. I Sat in
my room for days crying about how big of mistake i just made. At that moment i told myself i
would never get mad at another call in a sports game agains. That next year we had made our way
back into the semi– final game. Where i was dribbling the ball and i was getting bad calls on me
the whole game which was frustrating me. They blew the whistle and called me for a violation. I
didn't get mad at all I said to my team my bad and we went on to win that

Benchmark Assignment: Gospel Essentials Paper
Benchmark Assignment: Gospel Essentials
When you think "Christian Worldview," what comes to mind? I know I automatically think; God,
Jesus, Christians, and Prayer. As I have learned through my Christian Worldview class, I have
learned that there is a lot more to it and this paper will provide you with what I have learned.
Throughout this assignment, I will explain about God, Humanity, Jesus, restoration, my analysis of
the Christian Faith, and my reflection.
God
Who is God? God is the creator of all according to the Christian worldview. As Christians we
believe that God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Diffey, 2015, Ch. 3) We trust that God
be existent in three persons. After reading the Genesis chapters, I understood that God...show more

Being a Christian is great. You have God; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. You have all
three behind you and there for you no matter what. You can always count on God, no matter what
you do as God forgives you and your sins. God is good. God gives Christians life after death;
eternal life. (Kingsley, Charles, 2004) All you have to do is believe, have faith, trust, and love
god. God is love. According to the Christian worldview, one gains eternal life by believing that
Jesus died for our sins. We have to believe in God and trust and ask for forgiveness for our sins.
We have to let God in our lives, talk to God every day. I have to use John 3:16 "For God so loved
the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but
have eternal life," as bible verse that supports this because I remember this verse perfectly from
going to Sunday School and Bible School as a child. The thing that could be confusing or
troublesome is not actually seeing God as a person, as a physically human being. We are
supposed to believe that God is there for us, but we never see him. This may be confusing to
some. Also we are never told about Jesus's childhood. He is just there, born to an unmarried
mother and father from a rather backwater town in Palestine and an embarrassment to his family.
(Diffey, 2015, Ch. 5) Yet we are supposed to be married before children and so on. I can see where
this would be confusing to some Christians. You teach and preach it one way, but Jesus's life was
not that way? Also according to the textbook, when did Satan exactly become evil? (Diffey, 2015,
Ch. 4) Christianity could influence one's thinking and behavior because if they live a Godly life,
they will be more forgiving, faithful, and loving. When I think of "Church People" or Christian's, I
think friendly and always there for you. As you become a Christian you put yourself out there for
people, you become more personable

The Pros And Cons Of College Writing
Why do some college freshmen find it harder to write an essay in college than in high school?"
College freshmen usually struggle with the transition from high school writing to college writing.
They do not know that the writing in college has a lot of differences. They also do not know that
college writing has different rules. These students get confused with these rules. There are many
other reasons cause these struggles. There are different styles in writing, for example: In college
writing in college need to be done with at least two pages or more unlike in high school which takes
four to six paragraphs. As a first–year student and English is my second language, I am really
struggling to write a paragraph, spending hours to finish...show more content...
Methods I asked ten freshmen students in my class what are some of the difficulties do they believe
they face when writing a college essay? It took them five minutes to answer this question. As I
suspected, some of the answers I receive has something in common. Some of the students' responses,
the difficulties they face to write an essay are grammatic errors, punctuations, sentence structure, and
organization. Another key thing to remember is that they have problem with wording the sentences
correctly. So, the reader can understand the writing clearly. Likewise, many students have details
and ideas on paper. But sometimes don't know how to organize the writing process. Other student
said that they have trouble to start the first paragraph and and have a lack of motivation. I t takes
them long time to start the essay. Furthermore, some answers were interested. Few students don't
want to stress their self. So, they never think to revise their final draft. One of the problems I
receive is college vocabulary. One student response that his mind stuck on high school vocabulary
and don't know how to use college level vocabulary which make his essay weak. Similarly, I am
really struggling with grammar error, sentence structure, run on–sentence, and organization. One
other hand, I interviewed three junior college. The interview last is fifteen minutes each student. I

My Most Memorable Experience In College
My first semester here at Albright College is definitely one that I'm going to remember. Although
it has gone by way too fast, a lot of hilarious and great memories were made, mostly with the
people who are in my First Year Seminar class/POP group. Not only did I make amazing memories,
but I have also changed a bit and even learned more about myself. In addition, I have made quite a
few accomplishments, personal and academic since my midterm reflection. In the beginning of the
semester, I came up with a long–term goal which was partially completed throughout the semester.
My most memorable experience this semester would have to be POPs weekend because that is the
reason Kaitlyn and I have become so close, as well as Brian and Patinno....show more content...
I have learned things about myself along with things in general. When I was living at home, my
mom likes to have things done her way. As a result of this somewhat stubborn trait, which I
obtained from her, she wouldn't let me do my laundry because she thought I would ruin the
washer or something, I don't even know. Therefore, I learned how to do my own laundry since
living on my own, which really isn't difficult at all. Something surprising I learned about myself
is that I'm not as shy as I always thought I was. It used to be hard for me to open up and make
many friends when I was younger. But now, I made several friends the first weekend here, thanks
to POPs. I have had a couple of successes during this semester, personal and academic. I remember
getting a low grade on my first chemistry exam this semester, and I stated in my midterm
reflection that a goal I had was to get better grades on the next chemistry exams. Luckily and to
my surprise, I got fairly high scores on the last two tests. During POPs weekends, everyone had to
write down a first semester personal goal and put them in an envelope. I don't remember too well,
but I'm almost positive that I wrote down that my goal was to make good friends during the course
of the semester. Fortunately, I accomplished this goal and made very good friends with some the
very first people I met on welcoming weekend. For my midterm reflection

My Experience In A College Class
"Welcome Class to Composition one." Those words were voiced by my professor, Mrs.
Robinson, on the first day of school. Initially, I thought to myself, do I even belong in this college
course class. Before school had even begun, the stress over the summer about my English skills
was eating me alive. Why? Well, in my past English classes I received A's on all of my essays, but
this college class did not seem so easy. Also, I was always fascinated by all the arts and sciences,
but English never struck interest in me. I never thought that I could write any decent essays. The
reason I insecure about my writing skills was because of the ACT. Since the ACT is the talk about
how smart an individual is, my ACT score was not very high. As the course continued, the firstessay
approached quickly. I remember being stressed about this essay because of my writing
insecurities. Although I managed to acquire a decent grade, I promised myself to strive to make
myself a better writer. I started to read Norton Field Guide to Writing handbook also known as the
yellow book, and slowly but surely started to develop knowledge of good writing skills and tips to
improve my essays. This allowed me to grow as a writer and slowly my insecurities started to
dwindle, and I began to gain confidence in myself. I never would've thought that the next time I
took the ACT that my English score would be my highest. When getting my score back and
realizing that I had improved so much, I began to wonder how I

My Academic and Career Goals
My academic goal is to graduate Argosy University with a bachelors degree in Forensic Psychology
in three years time. Forensic Psychology is the study of the criminal mind, in a nutshell. The main
motivation to achieve this goal would be intrinsic. I love asking questions and knowing the answers
as to why people do what they do, and in a criminals case, what led them to committing the crime.
This goal, however, may have some extrinsic motivation as well. Being knowledgeable about certain
behaviors that criminals poses may help solve or even prevent a crime. In addition, having a degree
will help open different paths in life, ones that may present me with greater job opportunities. My
attitude toward the learning process will help my achievement of each goal because I am eager,
determined and motivated. My greatest desire is to succeed in life, and obtaining an education is
one thing I know will help me. I perhaps will need to make some adjustments along my journey. I
do not know yet if I will find another educational path that intrigues me the most. For now, I do not
feel that any adjustments need to be made. My career goal is to work in the Los Angeles Police
Department as part of their Forensics team. I want to do more than simply dig into the minds of
criminals. I want to be active; take fingerprints, DNA samples, and experience the crime scene. Most
of this is taught through direct training from the department but I feel that having a degree in Forensic

How to Succeed in College Essay
How to Succeed in College
College 101 has been a very informative class. It has taught me a lot about college and the changes
you have to make while attending college. I learned a lot about certain programs that the school
offers, I knew nothing about these programs before I took this class and I probably never would
have known anything about them if I never would have taken this class. In this class I have learned
about three important concepts that can be very useful throughout my college years to come. I think
time management, determining values and balancing lifestyles are the three most important concepts
you need to help you succeed in college.
I think planning a day to day schedule of the things you have to do is very...show more content...
Some people value education and material things while others value religion and spirituality. You
have to identify the values that are going to make you happy because if you don't you may try to
accomplish things to make other people happy. Having values helps you to determine where you
want to go in life and the decisions you make. If you value something you are pretty much going
to base every thing you do around that. Having values makes you a unique person because it has a
big impact on the choices you make and the lifestyle you live. One thing you have to value is
college because if you don't value it you won't succeed in it because you don't care what you do and
you won't achieve anything.
Balancing your lifestyle while in college is very difficult because if you have a lot on your plate
like children or other important responsibilities it's hard to balance them all and attend college. I
think this has a lot to do with time management because when making a schedule you have to put
your family or other responsibilities in that schedule and make time for everything. Some people
work full time and go to school full time and if you have a lot of things to deal with you will burn
out from the stress that such a pace imposes on your mind and body. If you work less and eliminate
some things than you will have more time while in college.
In conclusion I really have learned a lot in this class and really has helped me to manage my time

The Path To Success Essay
The path to success There are several qualities to have to be successful in college. These qualities
can range from attending class to going above and beyond what's expected. Success comes from
the journey taken or the path chosen. Success also comes from being prepared. As a student, I
must step up to the challenge and find the path to success along the way. Several ways I define
success is to uphold academic integrity, have the ability to prioritize, and to motivate myself to stay
on top of what needs to be accomplished. Academic integrity holds a great deal of weight. This
includes honesty in the work produced, as well as being able to accomplish the work. Responsibility
in addition plays important factor into integrity. I see...show more content...
Most of my days are long and tiring. By managing my time wisely, I normally get everything I
need for school and my extra circular actives done in a timely fashion. Sometimes it takes not
hanging out with the girls, in order to make sure I get my work done. Even putting in an extra
hour at work helps me manage my time more wisely and keeps me from temptation. Which in
turn forces me to focus more on my school work. Coaching football has always been a passion of
mine. Knowing how restricted my schedule is, I strive to get my boys out of practice on time
everyday. That way I can make it home to get some studying in, before I head into work. Many
people believe success in college is rocket science, but actually it's the exact opposite. College is
set up for students with the most basic high school knowledge to have a chance to excel. It's the
simple things that can make or break a student's college career. Things such as going or not going
to class. No brainer right? Sometimes sleep seems so much better than eight o'clock A.M. math,
but a successful college student has to have the willpower to resist the temptation to not skip out
on class. College is all about learning and not cutting corners, which only will hurt in the end.
Everyday of missed class information will be lost, therefore the lack of understanding will show on
a test or pop quiz. Attendance is a key to success. If I don't go

Transition To College Reflection Paper
It was only four years ago that I was transitioning from middle school to high school, and at the time,
this was an enormous deal: not only did the coursework increase in difficulty, but the grades we
earned counted for college. Although there were greater academic expectations and standards that
we had to adjust to for high school, there were hardly any other notable changes. I still caught the
city bus to school, my mom cooked dinner for our family, I continued my ath–letic pursuits, teachers
shoved knowledge down my throat (some of which I regurgitated), and, perhaps the best part of it
all, I hardly had to worry about anything except for taking care of business in the classroom. Now
that I am attending a college more than 3,000 miles away from my home, there are many more areas
in my life other than the academic grind. I was always used to someone tell–ing me what to do. In
college, there is an abundance of freedom, yet nobody tells you what to do with the freedom. With a
greater responsibility to take care of myself, academically, physi–cally, socially, and emotionally, the
transition to college has been far more demanding com–pared to when I was only transitioning to
high school. But is it really demanding? I admit that I do not have particularly strong feelings about
my current transition to college, because I understand that it is my mindset that can have a huge
impact on what I see as easy and challenging. Rather than seeing everything as a challenge, I

College Dropouts Essay
Many high school students succeed with a little leniency through their four years. The transfer from
high school to college becomes overwhelming and a struggle for some. For students do not
comprehend the importance of changing more than their location during the transition. A student
must be psychologically, physically, and emotionally mature to pursue college and not venture into a
point of no return. Dropping out of college makes the outlook of the conversion difficult to acquire.
Individuals should take their time on deciding which college and/or university is the best match for
them. There are various reasons that cause persons not to prosper. Issues that individuals may come
upon might leave a lifelong scar. Matters such as these...show more content...
Often students take high school for granted; consequently it shows when they reach college. For
example, in high school, teachers may accept late work, tardiness, and continuous inappropriate
behavior. The college classes that they will have to face will not tolerate such things as this.
Preparing for the work load and lifestyle is the two most important objectives to grasp early.
Furthermore, many people want to progress in their work, some simply want to gain in depth
education on the particular field they want to achieve. However, individual's bosses do not
always understand. Having a job while in college is a huge demand. Depending on whether
students have families or not will put them in a tight position. Ultimately the demand for both
will result in them dropping out of college. Mark Kantrowitz says, "Many students who drop out
of college has to work while enrolled in college (Why Do Students Drop out of College
Kantrowitz)." He follows up by saying that "they often find it very difficult to support themselves
and their families and go to college at the same time (Why Do Students Drop out of College
Kantrowitz)." In most homes, one's family always comes first no matter what. For example, the
desired accomplishments of the mother are not greater than the needs of her children. School work
and the work one puts into he/she's job alone are hard to manage. Having to

Plagiarism in College Work Essay example
Plagiarism takes various forms. A student may cheat doing something as extreme as purchasing a
paper, hiring someone to write a paper or turning in a paper freely provided by a friend. Many
students unknowingly commit Plagiarism by failing to properly cite their sources crediting the
authors. Still others cite, but plagiarize by coping much too much and writing far, far too little of their
own synthesized thoughts and ideas. Students must be careful about copying too much. If a paper is
mostly other writers' material, that can be considered Plagiarism, even if the student credits their
sources.
What Exactly is Plagiarism?
According to Purdue Owl, Plagiarism "is the uncredited use (both intentional and unintentional) of

Another technique teacher's use is to have a sit down conference with the student writer to see how
familiar the student is with their own work.
Students have tools for checking their own paper for Plagiarism violations too. Plagiarism
prevention tools like Turnitin and SafeAssign provide options for student submission papers.
Consequences of Plagiarism
Most colleges and universities have Academic Honesty policies that address Plagiarism. At Sierra
College, consequences of Plagiarism include a failing grade for the assignment or the entire course.
Also, a student may be referred to the Disciplinary Officer for more server consequences like
suspension or expulsion.
Tips For Avoiding Plagiarism
In order to avoid Plagiarism a student must use proper citations. According to a journal article by
Sarah Estow, Eva Lawrence, and Kathrynn Adams, "Results suggest repeated hands–on exposure to

Throughout my lifetime I have listened to people reflect back on their college experiences and
explain how college is supposed to be "the best experience of your life." The summer after my senior
year I use to try and imagine what my first semester was going to be like based on what I had heard
people talk about in the past. After my first semester at NC State I realized that I couldn't fully
understand what college was like until I experienced it for myself. My first couple of weeks at

obstacles that I had never heard about in those past college experience conversations. All of a

High School vs. College Essay examples
High School vs. College A very important part of life is education. In order to acquire a satisfying
education, one should complete high school prior to college. College and high school have two
different levels of education, but both are trying to further student's knowledge. As recent high
school graduates and college freshman's many can clarify similarities and differences between the
two. Some obvious similarities are that both have assignments, classrooms, and students. Although
college and high school have many differences three of the main ones are the teachers, classes, and
responsibilities. Teachers and college professors are one main difference. Teachers in high school

Classes are the second main reason high school differs from college. Classes in high school
generally consist of no more that 25 students. Counselors usually arrange your schedule the way
they think is best for you. You are not responsible for knowing what it takes to graduate. Usually
the school year is 26 weeks long; classes may have to be taken the whole year in order to get credit
for them. You are graded on most assignments done in class. In college some classes may have from
75–100 students. It is your responsibility to enroll in the classes that are required for your major,
plus a week for final exams. The year is divided into two 14 week semesters; most classes need to
be taken the complete semester in order to get credit. College professors tend to grade students
on tests and major papers. Responsibility has a lot to do when it comes to high school and college.
When you attend high school you are provided textbooks for each class. Your time is usually
structured by others (parents and/or teachers). Many parents are there to wake you up in the
morning before school starts. In high school you are required to go to school everyday. You often
read or hear presentations once in order to learn what you need to know. Students are expected to
read short stories at home which will be re–taught in class. When in college you must pay for each
textbook necessary for class.

My First Time Taking An Online Class
This semester was my first time taking an online class, it was nerve wrecking at first I am proud
about how well I transition from the traditional class room setting to this. Going into this class I
knew that there was going to be a lot of writing being that it was an English course. I expected to
ease though and not spend so many amount of hours on assignments. I expected it to be better
structure and for all of my peers to participate in the class. For example when we had the first
professor, it was chaos trying to find a partner to do a peer review with. Many of the students
were not as active in the course as they should have been. Now, that it has come down to the last
week I'll say I'm pretty satisfied with how the class turned out. Getting a new professor was good
because even when the old professor was still over the course he was not nearly as active as
professor Mustachio. I will be taking another online line class this fall semester. I am not sure if it is
going to be a lot of writing if so I feel that this class as prepared me for what I should and should not
expect.
When it came time to do writing assignments essays in particular. I would always start out by
drafting my ideas on paper. Listing out all the options that I could think of to go with the particular
assignment. Then begin to write out my entire essay on paper before typing. Unfortunately it is hard
for me to carry out this plan to its entirety. I always stop writing and just type and often I do not

In chapter three of The Nuts and Bolts of College Writing, Michael Harvey focuses on flow. He
explains consistency of character usage in sentences, additionally with appropriate pronouns and
linking words. In sentences, pronouns should refer to their nouns in a neat fashion. This makes
passages easier to follow, preventing confusion from arising. Furthermore, characters should be used
consistently. The writer controls the flow from one character to another, and they should not be
jumbled. If there are several characters, the sequences should introduce each one methodically.
Punch lines are also important in combining sentences from a familiar start to new information.
Additionally, introductory prepositional phrases are recommended if the

My general experience with the assignments for English class was really good. Going into
English class I knew that it wouldn't be to overwhelming for me because I love to write.
Whenever I was given an assignment to write about I automatically knew what to write about. I
always chose to write about something that was interesting to me which made it very easy to pick
a topic. The revision process wasn't too bad for me either. Although Buchanan always gave us a
date for when the rough draft was due and a date for the final paper I always tried to write the rough
draft as if it was the final paper. This made the revision process very easy for me because I only had
minor errors to correct. It also saved me a lot of time because I didn't have to sit and revise for hours.
Overall I loved this class and the teacher. It was one of the best classes I have had in a while.
I didn't find it hard for any of my papers to discuss and find the right audience, purpose and tone.
For example I focused my research paper on nurses and discussed their behaviors and attitudes. I
think I did a good job focusing on a specific tone and audience for each of my papers. Another
example would be my observation paper which specifically focused on people who would be
entering or are already in the health care field. I maintained the same audience by writing as if I was
talking to a specific group of people and trying to help them understand different

My Experience As A College Student Essay
Introduction I have enjoyed the opportunity to be an active student in this class. I have been
delighted to be able to speak in open discussions during lecture and I wish that more professors
practiced this method. The objective of this paper is for me to demonstrate an understanding of my
learning experiences through the information that I have learned over the duration of this course. I
have chosen to focus on my experience as a college student as the main topic of my self–assessment.
Many topic discussions in class have given me insight to the way that humans obtain and process
information. The class sessions on confirmation basis, critical thinking and sleep were all very
relatable to a returning college student like me. In the previous assessment, I discussed these key
elements in detail regarding how I maintained a balance of normality in my life. In this paper, I will
explain self–regulation and how the intrinsic method, extrinsic method, adaptation, and
self–actualization all relate to learning as a college student. Past School Experience As anyone
could imagine making the decision to return to school was not an easy one. I had been out of
college since December of 2011. The last college that I attended was the University of Phoenix. I
attended the ground campus in Sandy Springs, GA and the hour commute was killing me. Although
I only attended school once a week the amount of time that was required for me to put into my class
assignments was horrendous. I was

College Essay Assignment

  • 1. Expectations And Expectations In College Expectations and Goals As a new freshman, the next four years of my life can seem extremely daunting, with huge possibilities as to the kind of person that I want to be when I graduate. College is known as a transformation period in the life of a young adult, and I hope to take full advantage of this time. By setting expectations and goals for myself, hopefully I can be successful as I seek out the person that God wants me to be. I have set up, and outlined, academic, spiritual, and personal goals to achieve my first semester here at college. For this semester, I have set a high expectation for myself academically. Specifically, I would like to be able to maintain all A's, and therefore a 4.0 GPA. If I am able to do this, and possibly continue it on through all eight semesters of my college career, I will be a more competitive applicant for PA school, or med school, or whatever post undergraduate schooling that my future entails. Not only would achieving this goal be beneficial to my future career, I hope to honor Christ by working hard in everything that I do, and this is one way that I can do that. This goal is measurable because I can regularly check my grades to make sure that I am staying on track with each class to attain this goal. I believe that getting all A's is also achievable is I remained focused and driven, delegating ahead of time the study time that I will need to be successful in each of my classes. For each hour that I spend in a class, I will plan on spending at least three hours outside of class with the covered material to be successful. This can be realistic if I am careful to make sure that I don't commit myself too heavily to extracurricular activities. While I will be checking my grades weekly, half–way through the semester I will evaluate my study strategies, and whether they were successful or need to be changed to stay on target. Ultimately, I would like to see myself meet this goal at the end of the semester and carry the habits that I have learned to the rest of my college career. Spiritually, I know that this time is quintessential in the establishing of my faith and walk with Christ. My goal is to set habits and practices for myself that will help me grow spiritually. • 2. Everyone should have personal goals that evolve around anything that needs to be accomplished. I set goals on a daily basis. One goal that I seem to have not truly focused on has been my college education. Considering all things, I decided I needed to focus on my college education. The first thing I needed to accomplish was to enroll in an institution for higher learning. Now that my enrollment is complete, I am an official student at the University enrolled in the undergraduate program for business management. As a student at the university, I now have to set personal goals so that I will be successful in my endeavors. My personal goals are to gain personal growth and development and graduate from my undergraduate program in business...show more content... The most important to me while attending the University is to graduate with honors. I know that I have the potential and what it takes to accomplish this. In order to graduate with honors I will have to study and prioritize, taking my education seriously. By taking my academic affairs seriously and being a positive influence on myself, I know that I will achieve my goals. This means that I will have to complete all assignments, assuring accuracy and the quality of my work. Assuring that I complete all assignments, I will also need to do all assignments before they are due. This will allow me time to make sure that all corrections are done prior to me turning the assignments in. To help me along my journey to success, I have made two colorful, eye catching boards that I will allow myself to look at everyday. The first goal board that I have is a weekly board that I will use for each class. On this board I will have my individual weekly assignments and my team weekly assignments with start and due dates. Also I will have contact numbers and email addresses for people who will benefit me in my course. This would include all my classmates, teammates, and instructor. As I complete an assignment I will draw a line through that assignment. The second board that I have displays all my overall personal goals. On this board I will have an outline of all my Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. College Essay About Mistakes Mistakes something that we all do. People are not perfect therefore we will all make mistakes many times in our life. But there are two types of people in the world's ones that will live up to their mistakes and accept that they did it so they can move on. And there are those that will never live up to the mistakes they made and they will never be able to move on. The only way to truly learn from a mistake is to accept that you made one. There have been many times in my life that I have messed up and made mistakes. Some very terrible some not so bad. But none of them never were as bad as this one but, what i learned from the mistake made it all worthwhile. But, a worse problem know i would do them and get frustrated with the referees even though i know i made them. Which was mad cause eventually i got ejected from the game a few times because of me getting mad which costs us the game a few times. One time this happened at a semi–final game where if i hadn't got ejected we would've won. This was the biggest mistake of my life. But, it is hard in our culture not to get mad because, you see people on tv get mad all the time for these things. So that is a reason I still was getting mad I didn't think it was a big deal until it cost us the biggest game of my life. I Sat in my room for days crying about how big of mistake i just made. At that moment i told myself i would never get mad at another call in a sports game agains. That next year we had made our way back into the semi– final game. Where i was dribbling the ball and i was getting bad calls on me the whole game which was frustrating me. They blew the whistle and called me for a violation. • 4. Benchmark Assignment: Gospel Essentials Paper Benchmark Assignment: Gospel Essentials When you think "Christian Worldview," what comes to mind? I know I automatically think; God, Jesus, Christians, and Prayer. As I have learned through my Christian Worldview class, I have learned that there is a lot more to it and this paper will provide you with what I have learned. Throughout this assignment, I will explain about God, Humanity, Jesus, restoration, my analysis of the Christian Faith, and my reflection. God Who is God? God is the creator of all according to the Christian worldview. As Christians we believe that God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. (Diffey, 2015, Ch. 3) We trust that God be existent in three persons. After reading the Genesis chapters, I understood that God...show more content... Being a Christian is great. You have God; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. You have all three behind you and there for you no matter what. You can always count on God, no matter what you do as God forgives you and your sins. God is good. God gives Christians life after death; eternal life. (Kingsley, Charles, 2004) All you have to do is believe, have faith, trust, and love god. God is love. According to the Christian worldview, one gains eternal life by believing that Jesus died for our sins. We have to believe in God and trust and ask for forgiveness for our sins. We have to let God in our lives, talk to God every day. I have to use John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life," as bible verse that supports this because I remember this verse perfectly from going to Sunday School and Bible School as a child. The thing that could be confusing or troublesome is not actually seeing God as a person, as a physically human being. We are supposed to believe that God is there for us, but we never see him. This may be confusing to some. Also we are never told about Jesus's childhood. He is just there, born to an unmarried mother and father from a rather backwater town in Palestine and an embarrassment to his family. (Diffey, 2015, Ch. 5) Yet we are supposed to be married before children and so on. I can see where this would be confusing to some Christians. You teach and preach it one way, but Jesus's life was not that way? Also according to the textbook, when did Satan exactly become evil? (Diffey, 2015, Ch. 4) Christianity could influence one's thinking and behavior because if they live a Godly life, they will be more forgiving, faithful, and loving. When I think of "Church People" or Christian's, I think friendly and always there for you. As you become a Christian you put yourself out there for people, you become more personable Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of College Writing Why do some college freshmen find it harder to write an essay in college than in high school?" College freshmen usually struggle with the transition from high school writing to college writing. They do not know that the writing in college has a lot of differences. They also do not know that college writing has different rules. These students get confused with these rules. There are many other reasons cause these struggles. There are different styles in writing, for example: In college writing in college need to be done with at least two pages or more unlike in high school which takes four to six paragraphs. Methods I asked ten freshmen students in my class what are some of the difficulties do they believe they face when writing a college essay? It took them five minutes to answer this question. As I suspected, some of the answers I receive has something in common. Some of the students' responses, the difficulties they face to write an essay are grammatic errors, punctuations, sentence structure, and organization. Another key thing to remember is that they have problem with wording the sentences correctly. So, the reader can understand the writing clearly. Likewise, many students have details and ideas on paper. But sometimes don't know how to organize the writing process. Other student said that they have trouble to start the first paragraph and and have a lack of motivation. I t takes them long time to start the essay. Furthermore, some answers were interested. Few students don't want to stress their self. So, they never think to revise their final draft. One of the problems I receive is college vocabulary. One student response that his mind stuck on high school vocabulary and don't know how to use college level vocabulary which make his essay weak. • 7. My Most Memorable Experience In College My first semester here at Albright College is definitely one that I'm going to remember. Although it has gone by way too fast, a lot of hilarious and great memories were made, mostly with the people who are in my First Year Seminar class/POP group. Not only did I make amazing memories, but I have also changed a bit and even learned more about myself. In addition, I have made quite a few accomplishments, personal and academic since my midterm reflection. In the beginning of the semester, I came up with a long–term goal which was partially completed throughout the semester. My most memorable experience this semester would have to be POPs weekend because that is the reason Kaitlyn and I have become so close, as well as Brian and Patinno....show more content... I have learned things about myself along with things in general. When I was living at home, my mom likes to have things done her way. As a result of this somewhat stubborn trait, which I obtained from her, she wouldn't let me do my laundry because she thought I would ruin the washer or something, I don't even know. Therefore, I learned how to do my own laundry since living on my own, which really isn't difficult at all. Something surprising I learned about myself is that I'm not as shy as I always thought I was. It used to be hard for me to open up and make many friends when I was younger. But now, I made several friends the first weekend here, thanks to POPs. I have had a couple of successes during this semester, personal and academic. I remember getting a low grade on my first chemistry exam this semester, and I stated in my midterm reflection that a goal I had was to get better grades on the next chemistry exams. Luckily and to my surprise, I got fairly high scores on the last two tests. During POPs weekends, everyone had to write down a first semester personal goal and put them in an envelope. I don't remember too well, but I'm almost positive that I wrote down that my goal was to make good friends during the course of the semester. Fortunately, I accomplished this goal and made very good friends with some the very first people I met on welcoming weekend. For my midterm reflection Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. My Experience In A College Class "Welcome Class to Composition one." Those words were voiced by my professor, Mrs. Robinson, on the first day of school. Initially, I thought to myself, do I even belong in this college course class. Before school had even begun, the stress over the summer about my English skills was eating me alive. Why? Well, in my past English classes I received A's on all of my essays, but this college class did not seem so easy. Also, I was always fascinated by all the arts and sciences, but English never struck interest in me. I never thought that I could write any decent essays. The reason I insecure about my writing skills was because of the ACT. Since the ACT is the talk about how smart an individual is, my ACT score was not very high. As the course continued, the firstessay approached quickly. I remember being stressed about this essay because of my writing insecurities. Although I managed to acquire a decent grade, I promised myself to strive to make myself a better writer. I started to read Norton Field Guide to Writing handbook also known as the yellow book, and slowly but surely started to develop knowledge of good writing skills and tips to improve my essays. This allowed me to grow as a writer and slowly my insecurities started to dwindle, and I began to gain confidence in myself. I never would've thought that the next time I took the ACT that my English score would be my highest. When getting my score back and realizing that I had improved so much, I began to wonder how I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 9. My Academic and Career Goals My academic goal is to graduate Argosy University with a bachelors degree in Forensic Psychology in three years time. Forensic Psychology is the study of the criminal mind, in a nutshell. The main motivation to achieve this goal would be intrinsic. I love asking questions and knowing the answers as to why people do what they do, and in a criminals case, what led them to committing the crime. This goal, however, may have some extrinsic motivation as well. Being knowledgeable about certain behaviors that criminals poses may help solve or even prevent a crime. In addition, having a degree will help open different paths in life, ones that may present me with greater job opportunities. My attitude toward the learning process will help my achievement of each goal because I am eager, determined and motivated. My greatest desire is to succeed in life, and obtaining an education is one thing I know will help me. I perhaps will need to make some adjustments along my journey. I do not know yet if I will find another educational path that intrigues me the most. For now, I do not feel that any adjustments need to be made. My career goal is to work in the Los Angeles Police Department as part of their Forensics team. I want to do more than simply dig into the minds of criminals. I want to be active; take fingerprints, DNA samples, and experience the crime scene. Most of this is taught through direct training from the department but I feel that having a degree in Forensic Psychology Get more content on HelpWriting.net

It has taught me a lot about college and the changes you have to make while attending college. I learned a lot about certain programs that the school offers, I knew nothing about these programs before I took this class and I probably never would have known anything about them if I never would have taken this class. In this class I have learned about three important concepts that can be very useful throughout my college years to come. I think time management, determining values and balancing lifestyles are the three most important concepts you need to help you succeed in college. I think planning a day to day schedule of the things you have to do is very...show more content... Some people value education and material things while others value religion and spirituality. You have to identify the values that are going to make you happy because if you don't you may try to accomplish things to make other people happy. Having values helps you to determine where you want to go in life and the decisions you make. If you value something you are pretty much going to base every thing you do around that. Having values makes you a unique person because it has a big impact on the choices you make and the lifestyle you live. One thing you have to value is college because if you don't value it you won't succeed in it because you don't care what you do and you won't achieve anything. Balancing your lifestyle while in college is very difficult because if you have a lot on your plate like children or other important responsibilities it's hard to balance them all and attend college. I think this has a lot to do with time management because when making a schedule you have to put your family or other responsibilities in that schedule and make time for everything. Some people work full time and go to school full time and if you have a lot of things to deal with you will burn out from the stress that such a pace imposes on your mind and body. If you work less and eliminate some things than you will have more time while in college. In conclusion I really have learned a lot in this class and really has helped me to manage my time better Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 11. The Path To Success Essay The path to success There are several qualities to have to be successful in college. These qualities can range from attending class to going above and beyond what's expected. Success comes from the journey taken or the path chosen. Success also comes from being prepared. As a student, I must step up to the challenge and find the path to success along the way. Several ways I define success is to uphold academic integrity, have the ability to prioritize, and to motivate myself to stay on top of what needs to be accomplished. Academic integrity holds a great deal of weight. This includes honesty in the work produced, as well as being able to accomplish the work. Responsibility in addition plays important factor into integrity. I see...show more content... Most of my days are long and tiring. By managing my time wisely, I normally get everything I need for school and my extra circular actives done in a timely fashion. Sometimes it takes not hanging out with the girls, in order to make sure I get my work done. Even putting in an extra hour at work helps me manage my time more wisely and keeps me from temptation. Which in turn forces me to focus more on my school work. Coaching football has always been a passion of mine. Knowing how restricted my schedule is, I strive to get my boys out of practice on time everyday. That way I can make it home to get some studying in, before I head into work. Many people believe success in college is rocket science, but actually it's the exact opposite. College is set up for students with the most basic high school knowledge to have a chance to excel. It's the simple things that can make or break a student's college career. Things such as going or not going to class. No brainer right? Sometimes sleep seems so much better than eight o'clock A.M. math, but a successful college student has to have the willpower to resist the temptation to not skip out on class. College is all about learning and not cutting corners, which only will hurt in the end. Everyday of missed class information will be lost, therefore the lack of understanding will show on a test or pop quiz. Attendance is a key to success. • 12. Transition To College Reflection Paper It was only four years ago that I was transitioning from middle school to high school, and at the time, this was an enormous deal: not only did the coursework increase in difficulty, but the grades we earned counted for college. Although there were greater academic expectations and standards that we had to adjust to for high school, there were hardly any other notable changes. I still caught the city bus to school, my mom cooked dinner for our family, I continued my ath–letic pursuits, teachers shoved knowledge down my throat (some of which I regurgitated), and, perhaps the best part of it all, I hardly had to worry about anything except for taking care of business in the classroom. Now that I am attending a college more than 3,000 miles away from my home, there are many more areas in my life other than the academic grind. I was always used to someone tell–ing me what to do. In college, there is an abundance of freedom, yet nobody tells you what to do with the freedom. With a greater responsibility to take care of myself, academically, physi–cally, socially, and emotionally, the transition to college has been far more demanding com–pared to when I was only transitioning to high school. But is it really demanding? I admit that I do not have particularly strong feelings about my current transition to college, because I understand that it is my mindset that can have a huge impact on what I see as easy and challenging. Rather than seeing everything as a challenge, I Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 13. College Dropouts Essay Many high school students succeed with a little leniency through their four years. The transfer from high school to college becomes overwhelming and a struggle for some. For students do not comprehend the importance of changing more than their location during the transition. A student must be psychologically, physically, and emotionally mature to pursue college and not venture into a point of no return. Dropping out of college makes the outlook of the conversion difficult to acquire. Individuals should take their time on deciding which college and/or university is the best match for them. Often students take high school for granted; consequently it shows when they reach college. For example, in high school, teachers may accept late work, tardiness, and continuous inappropriate behavior. The college classes that they will have to face will not tolerate such things as this. Preparing for the work load and lifestyle is the two most important objectives to grasp early. Furthermore, many people want to progress in their work, some simply want to gain in depth education on the particular field they want to achieve. However, individual's bosses do not always understand. Having a job while in college is a huge demand. Depending on whether students have families or not will put them in a tight position. Ultimately the demand for both will result in them dropping out of college. Mark Kantrowitz says, "Many students who drop out of college has to work while enrolled in college (Why Do Students Drop out of College Kantrowitz)." He follows up by saying that "they often find it very difficult to support themselves and their families and go to college at the same time (Why Do Students Drop out of College Kantrowitz)." In most homes, one's family always comes first no matter what. For example, the desired accomplishments of the mother are not greater than the needs of her children. School work and the work one puts into he/she's job alone are hard to manage. Having to Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 14. Plagiarism in College Work Essay example Plagiarism takes various forms. A student may cheat doing something as extreme as purchasing a paper, hiring someone to write a paper or turning in a paper freely provided by a friend. • 15. My College Experience Essay examples My College Experience Throughout my lifetime I have listened to people reflect back on their college experiences and explain how college is supposed to be "the best experience of your life." The summer after my senior year I use to try and imagine what my first semester was going to be like based on what I had heard people talk about in the past. After my first semester at NC State I realized that I couldn't fully understand what college was like until I experienced it for myself. My first couple of weeks at Ohio State was rough and really tested my strength (mental and physical). I faced challenges and obstacles that I had never heard about in those past college experience conversations. All of a sudden there was no one to get me out of...show more content... I can remember missing 8:05 classes because I stayed out too late the night before. Sometimes I forgot to turn in an assignment because I didn't properly read my syllabus and my professor never mentioned it. These were all new problems that could have easily let escalate without taking the proper actions. For the most part I was doing fairly well but a few of my grades began to plummet. I was losing the confidence in myself and started to wonder if going to college had been the best decision. The time had come for me to grow up and become an adult even I didn't feel the time was right. I immediately began attending tutoring sessions, working with peers and also keeping a daily to–do list. These factors were the eventually led to drastic improvement and success. After my first semester I learned how better manage my time, take advantage of campus resources and also how to organize myself better. These struggles also taught me that sometimes I try and rush through things instead of taking my time. I realized that one of my strong points is being able to really do well when my back is against the wall. Although I was unhappy while facing obstacles I am happy I experienced them. • 16. High School vs. College Essay examples High School vs. College A very important part of life is education. In order to acquire a satisfying education, one should complete high school prior to college. College and high school have two different levels of education, but both are trying to further student's knowledge. As recent high school graduates and college freshman's many can clarify similarities and differences between the two. Some obvious similarities are that both have assignments, classrooms, and students. Classes in high school generally consist of no more that 25 students. Counselors usually arrange your schedule the way they think is best for you. You are not responsible for knowing what it takes to graduate. Usually the school year is 26 weeks long; classes may have to be taken the whole year in order to get credit for them. You are graded on most assignments done in class. In college some classes may have from 75–100 students. It is your responsibility to enroll in the classes that are required for your major, plus a week for final exams. The year is divided into two 14 week semesters; most classes need to be taken the complete semester in order to get credit. College professors tend to grade students on tests and major papers. Responsibility has a lot to do when it comes to high school and college. When you attend high school you are provided textbooks for each class. Your time is usually structured by others (parents and/or teachers). Many parents are there to wake you up in the morning before school starts. In high school you are required to go to school everyday. You often read or hear presentations once in order to learn what you need to know. Students are expected to read short stories at home which will be re–taught in class. When in college you must pay for each textbook necessary for class. Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. My First Time Taking An Online Class This semester was my first time taking an online class, it was nerve wrecking at first I am proud about how well I transition from the traditional class room setting to this. Going into this class I knew that there was going to be a lot of writing being that it was an English course. I expected to ease though and not spend so many amount of hours on assignments. I expected it to be better structure and for all of my peers to participate in the class. For example when we had the first professor, it was chaos trying to find a partner to do a peer review with. Many of the students were not as active in the course as they should have been. Now, that it has come down to the last week I'll say I'm pretty satisfied with how the class turned out. Getting a new professor was good because even when the old professor was still over the course he was not nearly as active as professor Mustachio. I will be taking another online line class this fall semester. I am not sure if it is going to be a lot of writing if so I feel that this class as prepared me for what I should and should not expect. When it came time to do writing assignments essays in particular. I would always start out by drafting my ideas on paper. Listing out all the options that I could think of to go with the particular assignment. Then begin to write out my entire essay on paper before typing. Unfortunately it is hard for me to carry out this plan to its entirety. I always stop writing and just type and often I do not Get more content on HelpWriting.net

He explains consistency of character usage in sentences, additionally with appropriate pronouns and linking words. In sentences, pronouns should refer to their nouns in a neat fashion. This makes passages easier to follow, preventing confusion from arising. Furthermore, characters should be used consistently. The writer controls the flow from one character to another, and they should not be jumbled. If there are several characters, the sequences should introduce each one methodically. Punch lines are also important in combining sentences from a familiar start to new information. • 19. Final Portfolio Project 1.Personal Reflection: My general experience with the assignments for English class was really good. Going into English class I knew that it wouldn't be to overwhelming for me because I love to write. Whenever I was given an assignment to write about I automatically knew what to write about. I always chose to write about something that was interesting to me which made it very easy to pick a topic. The revision process wasn't too bad for me either. Although Buchanan always gave us a date for when the rough draft was due and a date for the final paper I always tried to write the rough draft as if it was the final paper. This made the revision process very easy for me because I only had minor errors to correct. I think I did a good job focusing on a specific tone and audience for each of my papers. Another example would be my observation paper which specifically focused on people who would be entering or are already in the health care field. I maintained the same audience by writing as if I was talking to a specific group of people and trying to help them understand different Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 20. My Experience As A College Student Essay Introduction I have enjoyed the opportunity to be an active student in this class. I have been delighted to be able to speak in open discussions during lecture and I wish that more professors practiced this method. The objective of this paper is for me to demonstrate an understanding of my learning experiences through the information that I have learned over the duration of this course. I have chosen to focus on my experience as a college student as the main topic of my self–assessment. Many topic discussions in class have given me insight to the way that humans obtain and process information. The class sessions on confirmation basis, critical thinking and sleep were all very relatable to a returning college student like me. In the previous assessment, I discussed these key elements in detail regarding how I maintained a balance of normality in my life. In this paper, I will explain self–regulation and how the intrinsic method, extrinsic method, adaptation, and self–actualization all relate to learning as a college student. Past School Experience As anyone could imagine making the decision to return to school was not an easy one. I had been out of college since December of 2011. The last college that I attended was the University of Phoenix. I attended the ground campus in Sandy Springs, GA and the hour commute was killing me. Although I only attended school once a week the amount of time that was required for me to put into my class assignments was horrendous. I was Get more content on HelpWriting.net
