Sustainable Agriculture is a complex global puzzle. CLimate changes, depleting soil quality, lack of capital has resulted in hunger and famine in many parts of the world. In fact, shortly, these will hit harder than ever before. Readers of this post probably don't realise what a famine could do to the society, but not for long. Soon we will experience one if we continue to neglect small and marginal farmers. Small farmers are a significant part of our existence. Act now to save them or be prepared to spend more than 50% of your income towards food. The presentation is the first part of series which will focus on building a collaborative framework for sustainable farming. The first phase will focus on the farmer (user) and his problems, followed by business challenges and then technology architecture. The first part of the series presented at NUS Enterprise, Singapore in an event organised by IoTSG. I intend to bring in awareness on the importance of small farmers in the food ecosystem. Small farmers desperately need help from the technology developers to improve their farm productivity and ultimately their living conditions. Uplifting the small farmers will indirectly impact on the progress of humankind as described by sustainable global development goals of UN.
