The All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society’s
College of Engineering was established in
1992, under the co-education system. The
college is affiliated to the University of Pune.
At present under graduate & post graduate
courses are conducted in eight branches of
engineering . The total intake capacity of
college is 2600 students per year. The college
is located on 16 hectares of land.

LIBRARY OBJECTIVES
Technology will continue to change, and libraries have to
use the changing technology to provide the best access
and service to their users .Electronic information creates
challenges for the library community at its very
foundation, moving it away from the traditional paperand-print format to an digital world of circuits and
connectivity. The library is no longer defined simply as a
building or a physical repository that houses information.
So the essential future vision of the library is to achieve
the necessary information transformation and to face the
digital information needs.
SHORT TERM GOALS
Create a new physical library premises with computer network
facilities, abandoning the old concept of library as a storehouse of
books.
Connectivity of library OPAC facility through Intranet within
campus.
Build up Digital Library collection.
To develop a comprehensive collection of information required
for teaching and reference purpose.
To acquire, organize information resources to meet the present
and future needs of its users

.
LONG TERM GOALS
Developing a consortium of all Engineering college libraries
with resource sharing and Networking
Providing online library Facilities for Students/Faculties
Create a World Class Networked Global Library and
Information Centre to provide web based quality
information service to the user in time in the e-learning
environment
Provide electronic access to all relevant information and
integrate it on networks.

APPLICATION OF SIX SIGMA IN
LIBRARY SCIENCE FIELD
was held on 30 September 2011
One day National Level Conference on “Application of Six Sigma in
Library Science Field” was organized by Central Library of All
India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society’s College of Engineering, Pune,
on 30 September 2011. Dr Satish Kanamadi (Deputy Librarian, Tata
Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai) was the chief guest for this
function. Academic Adviser of AISSMS, Dr S W Dharmadhikari
delivered key note address on “Application of the concept of six
sigma in improvement for the services in the field of library and
information science”. He emphasized on six sigma process and
quality enhancement functions and variation concepts. Library
professionals from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Orissa, Karnataka
and Gujarat presented their research papers on six sigma theme in
this Conference. Total 59 participants registered for this conference.
Total 53 papers were submitted for Conference, out of which 33
papers were selected
AUTHOR – STUDENTS MEET
14 September 2012
To increase usages of Library facilities by students, AUTHOR – STUDENTS
Meet event was organized by AISSMS COE, Central Library on 14
September 2012. Dr. Devkar (Head of Electronics Dept, Sinhgad Institute of
Technology and Science) and Mr Atul Kahate (Consulting Practice Director
of Orcal Financial Service Software Ltd) was the Guest Author for this
event .This training program was useful for faculty as well as students.
Queries regarding VHDL subject were solved in this Program. Total 165
students from Computer and Electronics Department attended this program

Maharashtra Vidyapeeth , on “Role Of Libraries With Reference To
ICT and NACC Accreditation , held on 23 February 2011
Mrs.Vrushali Dandawate attended a workshop on “ABCD Digital
Library Software” organized by Bioinformatics Center Pune
University on 30 May 2011.

Asstt.Librarian was selected as participants for national level seminar
at GIPE, Pune on " Challenges and Opportunities of Library and
Information Science in Digital Era" on 29th and 30th Dec 2010.This
seminar was sponsored by National Library,Kolkatta.
