- 6. The Triangle Area Chapter of the American Red Cross helped more than 357 families recover from local disasters in 2010. We provided more than 10,836 nights of shelter locally to those whose homes or apartments were made unlivable due to fires in 2010 .
- 7. Service to the Armed Forces
- 8. Each year the Red Cross assists nearly 3,000 Triangle military families financially and emotionally. Local military families turned to us more than 1,200 times last year for support . We provide emergency communication, financial assistance, and counseling services for military families.
- 10. The local Red Cross chapter provides most of the blood supply for our area. We recruited more than 45,000 blood donors last year to provide life saving blood for area hospitals.

- 12. Every year, nearly 60,000 Triangle residents gain the skills to respond to life threatening emergencies such as heart attacks.
- 13. Club Red is an assembly of dedicated volunteers who support the Red Cross mission, generally through event-based fundraising activities. - The American Red Cross has a global reach with a local focus. This year alone, we have provided international relief to earthquake victims in Haiti and flood victims in both Pakistan and Mexico. Locally, we assisted 337 Triangle families and provided 1,430 nights of shelter.

Should a family emergency occur while a loved one is deployed, the Red Cross works to contact that service man or woman and inform them of the situation and bring them home. Last year, the Triangle Red Cross educated 26,437 ready-to-deploy service men and women about this program and actually aided 954 active military personnel in communicating with their family.
