Clintonics discusses the changing electronic music scene in Morgantown from year to year. As a DJ, Clintonics enjoys testing out new music productions in front of live crowds and experiencing magical moments. The tape "He's the DJ, I'm the Rapper" by DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince inspired Clintonics to start DJing when they were 8 years old. While often labeled as a drum & bass DJ, Clintonics actually plays a wide variety of genres privately. Morgantown's music scene struggles to expand due to students' limited financial means and lack of collaboration between promoters, performers, and different music communities that don't often support each other's shows.

1. PM: You seem to be plugged into the electronic and dj
world of Morgantown, where do you see that
heading?
Clintonics: The electronic music scene in
Morgantown completely changes every year.
Popular music remains popular until the next fad.
PM: As a dj& producer, which do you enjoy the
most?
Clintonics: I have always wanted to be a superstar
producer, but I am more known as a DJ. I enjoy the
random the moments of magic that happen when
nobody is listening. As a DJ, I am grateful to have the
opportunity to test out new productions in front of a
crowd over a loud system.
PM: What one musical project (recording or
performance) make you decide to create music?
Clintonics: I have always been around music. I had a
collection of vinyl and tapes when I was 8 years
old, but the first tape that I purchased with my own
money was DJ Jazzy Jeff and The Fresh Prince -He's
the DJ, I'm the Rapper. The second side of that tape is
the reason why I own turntables.

2. PM: do you think you have a "signature"
sound? if so, can you expand on that?
Clintonics: I am usually typecasted into one
genre, but off stage I play everything. People
have come to know me as the Drum & Bass
DJ. That is mostly my fault, but I don't mind.
Most of my vinyl collection is D&B and
Breaks.
PM: . How can Morgantown expand it's
music scene?
Clintonics: Morgantown can not expand it's
music scene. Scholastically and financially, a
student can not afford to attend an event
every night of the week and purchase
alcohol for his or her neck. Each venue is
known for a genre or clique. There are too
many promoters and performers and not
enough collaboration. Rock kids don't go to
rap shows, metal and indie heads hate
both, and none of these people listen to
electronic music.
