• Skills for Care (2007) define ‘supervision’ as
“an accountable process which supports,
assures and develops the knowledge skills and
values of an individual group or team”.

(Edwards et al. 2006; Horton et al.2008; Cox &
Araoz 2009).

a lack of supervision of health professionals can be harmful to
patients .(Kilminster & Jolly 2000; Farnan et al. 2012).

proposed to provide an environment in which clinicians can
safely appraise their practice, develop professional skills,
question established practices and seek new approaches, thus
