Central idea: As a nation the United States needs to take steps to discover alternate sources of energy. With our growing demand for all types of energy and dependence on foreign sources of energy, natural gas fracturing can bring revenue and independence from our energy concerns.
Introduction
I. Attention Material
A. The economy has benefited by a process known as hydraulic fracturing or simply “fracking,” since the year 1947. The process starts with drilling beneath the surface to extract natural gas that is located within the rocks. Water, along with other components is released beneath the surface which fractures (fracks) the deep rock to create the passage for the gas to reach the surface. Once the gas has reached the surface it enters the wells that were created for collection. From there the gas is ready to be potted and sold.
B. With the current turmoil in the Persian Gulf, and the amount of energy the United States consumes, we’re quickly running running out of fossil fuels. Our dependence on foreign energy can be significantly reduced if natural gas can be harnessed as a primary energy source.
C. With all the rise in hydraulic fracturing harvesting plants, several job opportunities have become available for Americans. Job opportunities started rising as drilling and fracking of the natural gas became more common. Job creation is key to avoiding economic failure. States that currently allow facking are reporting revenue gains in the millions and billions of dollars.
D. While we agree that natural gas fracking and the environmental regulations should be more strictly regulated, it is not as harmful to the environment as some would make you believe. States are already taking measures to ensure the environment and communities are protected. With such regulations in place and further measures taking shape, the benefits of gas fracking far outweigh the risks.
I. Thesis (Conclusion): The process of hydraulic fracturing in the current economy has become more refined, the jobs and income it brings provide a myriad of opportunities. Crucial independence from foreign imported energy. While some tout this process as harmful and damaging, it’s actually regulated, and multiple studies by government agencies have been done. Fracking is the energy of the future.
II. Preview of Main Points: Today we will discuss how a new energy resource has become available, along with the job opportunities, and how hydraulic fracturing is less harmful then oil drilling itself. The basics of hydraulic fracturing have already been discussed, so we will move into detail on how this process is beneficial.

Position: Agree; Many independent environmental movements overstate the severity of environmental concerns and inflate the facts in order to gain more support from the public.
Opening Statements:
· Max: It is not to say that climate change does not exist, and it is not to say that the actions of humans are adversely affecting the environment, but the tactics used by some environmental movements to garner support rely on exaggerated and manipulated scare tactics to rally together people.
· Josh: For a topic such as Climate Change, we do not know for sure if the increase in temperature is actually caused by humans, or just part of the cycle of temperatures in Earth’s history. Each cycle lasts about 100k to 800k. Just 110k years ago, the world experienced the last major Ice Age when North America and Eurasia were completely covered by huge glaciers. The last little ice age was between 1400 and 1700. Throughout its history, Earth has had cooling and warming periods. What we do not know, is if the continued combustion of fossil fuels and increased atmospheric CO2 concentration will cause “global warming” to continue. There is no scientific proof! And even if we do have policies and make economic sacrifices to curb emissions of greenhouse gases, we do not know if it will even have a beneficial effect

During the late summer of 2007, Bob Malone, British Petroleum (BP) America Chairman
and President, was faced with one of the most important decisions of his career – to

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Now, with Election Day just months away, three super-wealthy individual donors who made huge fortunes in the multi-billion-dollar fossil fuel industry are trying to buy Long Island’s elected officials.

According to campaign finance reports, almost half of the total “housekeeping” funds raised by the New York State Republican Party since the beginning of this year have come from only from three individuals: oil industry billionaire David Koch, hedge-fund billionaire and charter-school backer Paul Singer, and Charles Joyce, president of a pipeline company and a proponent of fracking in New York state.1 These three wealthy donors have personally profited from dirty energy, funded climate denials, and blocked action on climate that could lead us to clean energy economy and create good jobs for Long Island. Now they are taking over the state Republican Party to try to ensure the reelection of Republican State Senators on Long Island so that fossil-fuels- forever policies that will continue to line their pockets with profits while our climate crisis continues to explode. THE BILLIONAIRES' CLIMATE CONSPIRACY... ● Personally profiting from dirty energy: ○ Paul Singer’s hedge fund, Elliott Associates, has more than 14% of its holdings invested in the energy sector, according to recent SEC filings.
