The Bay Broadband Co-operative Ltd is a village-based social enterprise located in Robin Hoods Bay, North Yorkshire that provides broadband service to residents and visitors. It does this by sending out wireless signals from gateways to create a wireless network and transmit the signal through devices like Nanos, rockets, and bullets. Customers get the signal through their WiFi aerials, but need a password or to be permanently logged into the system to fully access the internet. The co-operative is managed by a board of directors and has over 100 members who pay a monthly fee. Any profits are reinvested back into upgrading the system.
