Focusing on a collaborative approach to teaching, participants will sample hands-on, highly engaging integrated arts lessons to introduce students to Chinese language, culture, and history, and will examine methods to increase intercultural and language competencies to enhance the support of Chinese culture and language throughout the school community. Teachers will learn how to use the various arts disciplines to kick-start classroom studies in order to deepen and enrich students’ experiences and understanding, to open dialogue for discussion, and to make authentic connections between students’ home cultures and those they have chosen to study.

For your final essay for the class, you should consider the following.
To begin the Mod, think about how you defined Technology and Art….think about how you saw the intersection of art and technology…what was your perspective then? What is it now?
Essay part 1
: Now that our course is winding down, I would like you to reflect on your original perspectives and redefine art and technology in your view – essentially, describe how you see these themes of art and technology with your new perspective. How do you view technology now? How do you view art now? How do you see the intersection between the two? How has your view shifted or evolved during the semester? Were there any “ah-ha moments” during the semester that really brought the intersection of art and technology home for you?
Essay part 2
: Next, locate two different examples of art – this can be ANY types of art – that represent for you the two “lenses” that we have been exploring. Find one piece of art for each lens: 1) how technology is empowering artists to express themselves in new and progressive ways and 2) how artists use their art to express technology’s impact on society and individuals. Then, analyze the two pieces in light of their relationship to the different lenses and expand on how you see the pieces being reflective of the work we have looked at during the course.
NOTES:
1) Be sure to include the images of art and/or a link to them in your final submission!
2) Your essay should be at least 2-3 pages (750 words +/-)
3) You should be sure to proofread for proper spelling, punctuation and grammar!
