This document summarizes a presentation on renewable energy, landfill gas, and energy from waste technologies. It provides an overview of these technologies and their current and potential future contributions to UK energy supply and climate change mitigation goals. In particular, it discusses the opportunities for expanding energy from waste through biomethane use in transport and community-level energy from waste microgeneration. The presentation concludes that greater government support is needed to more rapidly deploy renewable technologies and ensure they can meet targets for the UK's energy mix by 2020.

Electrifying Surface Transport: Evaluating the Theoretical use of Scotland's ...Katelin Hanson
The inherent geographical separation of many island countries from a mainland power source has resulted in energy systems that are highly dependent on imported fossil fuels. The main aim of this research paper is to address the concept of island energy sustainability through the use of electrifying surface transport. The Orkney Electric Future is a project that has been successfully utilized in Orkney, Scotland that focuses on implementing electric vehicles onto the local grid as a means for decreasing oil demands in the transport sector. The OEF was chosen for this research paper to be utilized as a rough framework for which to model EV adoption in the Hawaiian Island of Oahu.
This thesis was completed as part of the degree of Master's of Science in Carbon Management from the University of Edinburgh.

[Insurance] Mortgage Creditor vs. Term LifeJoseph White
The general consensus is that term life insurance is a better option for the borrower than mortgage creditor insurance for several of the reasons. However, better coverage is only applicable when the term insurance is in force. On average, only about 20% of mortgage brokers’ clients actually take mortgage creditor insurance. Quite often, this is due to the borrower indicating that he or she currently has adequate insurance or that he or she feels that insurance is not required under his or her circumstances. Since the mortgage broker is not a licensed life insurance representative he or she cannot determine whether those statements are accurate.

FOSTERING ENERGY EFFICIENCY DYNAMICS THROUGH EX-ANTE STRATEGIC NICHE MANAGEME...Dr Renuka Thakore
Investigating potential of energy efficiency initiatives such as the “Green Deal” to contribute towards multi-dimensional sustainability in the English housing development pathways. It is indentifed that the role of stakeholders is crucial in making this a reality. First order learning is generally visible, however, second order learning is not apparent. Full stakeholders engagement - experts and non-experts, academics and non-academics, policy-makers and decision-makers, developers, regulators and end-users - can delve into greater granularity of interrelationships, forces and pressures, barriers and opportunities to direct successful sustainable transformations.
