24 school sites throughout district
Serve up to 2300 students at a time.
Serve grades K-12.
Continuous enrollment.
Currently 60% of our students come from charter and private schools.
Some students come for a few months, a few years or never leave
us.
We culminate students continuously. Average about 700-800
graduates a year
3. What is independent study
It is a alternative method of instruction.
Students compete their classes through completion of homework (20-30 hours).
Teacher instruct student 1:1 and small group minimum of one hour a week.
Secondary students complete 6 to 8 classes a semester.
We are A through G, comprehensive program and are not credit recovery or
remediation.
3 Graduation Pathways (Diploma Plus, Adult School 170 and Traditional)
Our students leave with a transcript that will support post secondary education or
entry level skilled employment.
4. What is our student profile
Students that can not attend 5 days a week, 6 hours a
day at their regular school program due to “outside
obligations.”
Students that can do classroom work, but need highly
individualized support.
Students that have been victimized and need time to
heal.
Students who have agoraphobic behaviors.
5. How do you refer
Send parent to any of our sites to meet with
teacher.
Teacher will explain program and give
enrollment paperwork.
If “special or sensitive case enrollment” contact
me directly and we will do an administrative
placement.
6. Support for Exceptional Populations
We can NOT serve ELD students due to MCD.
We can serve LTEL students with intermediate
or advanced fluency. We use the Keystone
curriculum.
We can serve RSP students that have 1 hour
or less of support a week.
