The document analyzes the song "Englishman in New York" by Sting. It was inspired by Sting's visit to Quentin Crisp, a gay writer and icon who had moved from London to New York. The song explores the feelings of being a foreigner and not belonging. It contrasts British and American culture through references to tea, toast, and accents while also addressing deeper themes of discrimination, manners, and defining masculinity.
The document outlines ideas for a mind map, including taking a photo of vinyl records laid out on the floor with the creator posing to make it seem vintage through photoshop. A second idea is to take a selfie wearing 80s makeup and hair in the style of Marylyn Monroe.
The Police was a band formed in 1977 by Stewart Copeland, with Sting and Henry Padovani as original members. Padovani was later expelled for his lack of guitar skills, and was replaced by Andy Summers. The Police went on to release 6 albums between 1978-1983, gaining fame with their second album Reggatta de Blanc, and were influenced by genres including reggae, punk and jazz.
Sting is an English musician and activist whose real name is Gordon Matthew Sumner. He formed the band The Police in the 1970s which achieved great commercial success and won multiple Grammys. Sting began engaging in political and social activism in the 1980s by participating in benefit concerts for Amnesty International and Band Aid. He continues his activism through the Rainforest Foundation, which he founded in 1989 to protect rainforests and indigenous people and has helped conserve over 100,000 square kilometers of Amazon rainforest.
Walter Murch is a pioneering film editor known for his work on films such as Apocalypse Now and The English Patient. He developed principles for film editing based on criteria like emotion, story, and rhythm. Murch also cares deeply about sound design and mixed the soundtracks for many classic films from the 1970s and 1990s. He is considered a visionary for switching to computer editing in the mid-1990s using Apple's Final Cut Pro software to edit big-budget films like Cold Mountain.
The document appears to show increasing interest rates on investments of sums of money over time. It includes the initial sum invested, interest rate, time, and accumulating totals from two sums over 50 intervals. The interest rates increase from 300% to 15000% at intervals ranging from 100% to 4900%, with the two sums and their totals accumulating at each time point.
The document discusses the benefits of exercise for mental health. Regular physical activity can help reduce anxiety and depression and improve mood and cognitive function. Exercise causes chemical changes in the brain that may help protect against mental illness and improve symptoms for those who already suffer from conditions like depression and anxiety.

The document discusses several films that use the convention of an elevator setting. The Devil is about a supernatural being causing a lift to constantly break down. The Elevator depicts a man getting into an overcrowded lift full of overweight people and then switching to an ill-filled car. An animated short shows a man feeling vulnerable when an attractive woman enters his lift. Elevator Romance involves two strangers in a broken down lift falling in love, similar to the proposed idea but without a twist ending.

Nikola Tesla was a Serbian American inventor, electrical engineer, mechanical engineer, and futurist best known for his contributions to the design of the modern alternating current (AC) electricity supply system. He was born in 1856 in Croatia and studied engineering at the Graz University of Technology before moving to the United States to work for Thomas Edison. Some of Tesla's greatest inventions included the AC motor and developments in wireless energy transmission. He died in 1943 at the age of 86.
The document discusses two films that served as influences for an upcoming short film project set in a lift: "Devil" (2010), which featured suspenseful shots inside a malfunctioning lift, and "Lift" (year unknown), an experimental short film observing people's body language and movements entering and exiting a small lift. Key shots and filming techniques from "Devil," such as shots of a woman entering an office building, could be replicated. Studying people's typical timid behaviors in the confining space of a lift in "Lift" provided useful reference for filming interactions in the short film project's lift setting.
The document provides information about film editing techniques and the role of an editor. It defines various editing techniques like elliptical editing, long shots, non-diagetic sound, and shot-reverse-shot. It also analyzes the editing in the short film "The Gloaming" which uses techniques like flashbacks, cutaways, and close-ups. Finally, it outlines the job responsibilities of an editor which includes carefully analyzing shots to craft a cohesive story, working closely with directors and producers, and using creative skills under pressure to refine rough cuts.

The document discusses the author's recent trip to Rome and their exploration of unexpected places in the city. The author describes being surprised by a local friend who takes them to visit the private Palazzo Colonna, one of Rome's grandest and most lavish palaces. The Palazzo Colonna contains beautiful works of art and immense marble columns. It has a history dating back to the 12th century and was built and expanded by the noble Colonna family over centuries. The author is amazed by the grandeur of the Palazzo Colonna and sees it as surpassing even their first impressions of the Vatican Museum.

Benvenuti a Bernalda
l’Adriatico e, sbarcato in Italia, andai a Bernalda in
automobile.
proprio come mi avevano sempre raccontato. Avevo
«Dopo aver girato Apocalypse Now, mi resi
natura. All’inizio ho pensato di acquistare

verdure, come i lampascioni, e tante specialità
vi insegneremo a fare.
«Produciamo molti vini a Sonoma.

Prossima destinazione?
ristorante. Ma mi piace anche Tunisi, la città
di cui era originaria mia nonna».
