Dale Chihuly is an American glass sculptor and entrepreneur. He received his master's degree in sculpture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and studied glass in Venice on a Fulbright fellowship. In 1971, Chihuly founded the Pilchuck Glass School in Washington. Though he was in a car accident in 1976 that blinded one eye, he continued glass blowing until another accident in 1979 made it impossible. He then hired others to assist him with his glass sculptures.
