Dale Chihuly is an American glass sculptor and entrepreneur. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a master's degree in sculpture and later studied glass in Venice. In 1971, he founded the Pilchuck Glass School in Washington. In 1976, he was in a car accident that left him blind in one eye. After injuring his shoulder in 1979, he could no longer personally blow glass and began hiring others to execute his designs. Chihuly has created large glass installations around the world and was the subject of the documentary Chihuly Over Venice.
