By popular demand, this accessible, virtual learning opportunity for senior educational leaders across Canada will continue to be offered throughout the 2021/2022 school year. The series is built on evidence-based research, problem-based learning, professional publications, and practical strategies for leading. The speakers and topics have been chosen based on feedback and urgently identified leadership priorities and equity is weaved into each session. The series focuses on effective approaches and strategies that can be implemented in a timely manner to optimize support for staff, students and communities served.
Each series consists of three modules, 90-minutes in duration, delivered online, in an interactive webinar format. Each module connects and builds on the learning from the previous module.
Most sessions will be recorded and provided to all participants within 48 hours via the CMC Leadership online learning platform. Additional resources will be provided.
The topics, speakers and dates for section three will be announced in the new year.

The Sauder School of Business has been developing programs in Nairobi, Kenya since 2006. The main program, Social Entrepreneurship 101 (SE101), is a three-week course where students from UBC and Strathmore University (Nairobi) teach young people how to write business plans. Participants are mentored, sources of funding for the projects are identified, and businesses have been launched as a result of the program.

Opportunities
As proposed by CIDA, this day would bring together volunteers from the
various companies represented in CIDA as well as from other Chicagoland
organizations.
UCAN would bring our young people on a non-school day to this event,
which would include multiple training.
UCAN would welcome the participating organizations to provide lunch or
transportation.
UCAN would also take this opportunity to share more information about
our mission and ongoing work with volunteers.

Commitment
UCAN aims to have 20-50 young leaders attend this day. We would like to
plan for groups of six young leaders with 1-2 trainers per group.

9. Professional Mentoring and Speaking
Opportunities
These workshops are designed to give UCAN’s young leaders firsthand
knowledge and feedback on professionalism and life skills.
Each mentor/coach would focus on an area of expertise and passion, and
would present this to small groups of young people.

Commitment
Speaking opportunities are 1.5 hours long and take place during or after
school hours according to the speaker’s schedule.

11. Young Leaders Exposure Outings
Opportunities
These outings expose UCAN’s young people to business professionals in
order to further their understanding of what it takes to succeed in the
workplace.
This opportunity allows a company the chance to share knowledge and
history of the company as well as to discuss individual success stories.
The outings are designed to improve work ethics and to create career
focus through career development and leadership training.
By introducing UCAN’s young people to various industries, organizations,
lines of work and functions, they are enabled to learn about and to explore
potential career directions, in addition to being motivated towards
