Class consists of 22 children.
All but 4 boys are at a 4th grade reading level
13 boys and 9 girls
The other 4 are only at a 3rd grade reading level
Active, well-behaved students
All want to participate but the 4 boys have
trouble keeping up with the rest of the class

Introduce the students to the woods
Introduce the students to the flora and fauna
that live in the woods
Introduce the students to conservation

Monday-Introduce the woods as a habitat.
Students will write an essay on what they think
the woods are and then watch a short movie
about the woods.
Tuesday-Introduce the plant life of the woods.
Students will observe plant displays and take
notes. At home, they will make leaf and bark
rubbings and use their notes to determine the
species of plant.
5. Wednesday-Introduce the wildlife of the woods.
Students will use the smart board to go over the
various animal species and their characteristics.
At home, they will go outside until they observe
three different animal species and can identify
and record their findings.
Thursday-Introduce conservation. The students
will learn the importance of conservation and
protecting the woods. A park ranger will come in
and talk to the students.
6.
Friday-The students will go with me on a field
trip to a local park. They will do a scavenger
hunt and use what they have learned to find
the items on the list.
