The Book of Joshua is the sixth book in the Hebrew Bible and the Old Testament, and is the first book of the Deuteronomistic history, the story of Israel from the conquest of Canaan to the Babylonian exile.
In Jude 17-23 Jude shifts from piling up examples of false teachers from the Old Testament to a series of practical exhortations that flow from apostolic instruction. He preserves for us what may well have been part of the apostolic catechism for the first generation of Christ-followers. In these instructions Jude exhorts the believer to deal with 3 different groups of people: scoffers who are "devoid of the Spirit", believers who have come under the influence of scoffers and believers who are so entrenched in false teaching that they need rescue and pose some real spiritual risk for the rescuer. In all of this Jude emphasizes Jesus' call to rescue straying sheep, leaving the 99 safely behind and pursuing the 1.

Leprosy destroys lives. It makes sense as to why the bible, both New Testament and old testament use leprosy as a type or illustration for sin. Just like leprosy, sin source seems invisible, it starts small as a blotch. A slight discoloration, a small decision easily hidden. But it soon infects it’s host and sin is insidious the hosts’ life is never the same….ever. the bible tells us that this is what sin is like. It starts small, unremarkable, but left unattended, ignored, it will grow. It affects us then consumes us.
Is it is safe to say that the man with Leprosy is serious about his condition. I think it is safe to say that the man IS VERY earnest about his condition and reflective of his question is VERY willing to do what it takes to get healed. He does not underestimate his condition The man hears about Jesus and what reluctant hope must have filled his heart! The Luke account says he saw Jesus and came to him. He knelt to him, he implored him. The tax collector Matthew tells us that he found Jesus on the overlook which we call the mount of beatitudes and after Jesus has delivered the sermon on the mount recorded in Matthew 5-5-7, he saw Jesus and throws his decaying body in front of Jesus. Mark says he knelt down, Luke says he fell on his face his face, Matthew says he worshipped him.
The degree to which you understand your condition is the degree to which you are earnest about being healed So if leprosy is like sin, then this miracle is a powerful statement of God’s mercy. Of Christ's’ compassion. You see the power of Jesus to deliver from sin is…SPECTACULAR!
Luke 5:12-15
a physician records this story exactly as we would read it in the gospel of Mark except with one telling detail that a physician would want to bring out. He writes that the man was plerous, Lepros, those two words mean full of the disease. It was in an advanced condition. Luke notes that this man is Terminal, fatal, we have every reason to believe this man was completely covered with this dreadful disease. From the top of his head to the bottom of his feet.
verse 13, Immediately, the Leprosy left him!
We are not told anything of this man. We are not told if he has a wife, children, living brothers and sisters, neighbors for whom he is really close to. We don’t know how long he might have been suffering. The average lifespan of a person diagnosis with leprosy has been calculated to be about 9 years. So for 9 years, they would follow from a distance their family. If he found himself in a lepers’ colony he would be lucky for at least there would be other people to talk to and relate to…
Can you imagine the man saying well what about my wife? What about my kids. I can’t act as if I don’t have them. I have to see them, I have to touch them at least one more time.
Can you imagine Never touching or being able to kiss you mom or dad again? No hugs, no kisses, no good night kisses. You probably have a policy in your house like we do in ours. Kiss your mama goodnight. It doesn’t matter how tired, how long the day was, if you are already tucked in… kiss your mama goodnight.
