Christopher Nolan is a British-American film director born in London in 1970. He studied English literature in university and made his first films while in his 20s. Nolan is known for directing complex, psychological thrillers like Memento (2000), the Dark Knight trilogy (2005, 2008, 2012), and Inception (2010). These films started off low-budget but became massive blockbusters. Nolan is praised for his intricate storytelling and secrecy around his film projects.

He travelled between Chicago and London while growing up as his mother
was from America and his father was from Britain
He attended The University College London, where he studied English
literature and joined the school's film society.
In 1997 Nolan married Emma Thomas, who has worked as a producer on many
