This document is a summary of a church sermon given at FCC Worship Center. The sermon discusses how God completely forgives sins through his grace. It notes that when we confess our sins, God forgets them immediately and removes them as far as east is from west. The sermon encourages living under grace rather than law, and says grace should propel us to change our affections toward Jesus and redirect our lives. It uses the story of the sinful woman pouring perfume on Jesus' feet to illustrate how grace can transform us.
5. Isaiah 9:6
For to us a child is born, to us a son is
given, and the government will be on
his shoulders. And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

11. 12 He has removed our sins as far

12. It’s not even that God
no longer holds our sin
against us, He completely
separates our sin from us.
It is no longer attached to
or associated with us.
18. We, on the other hand,
may ask for forgiveness
but it continues to follow
us like a dark cloud and we
define ourselves by the
very sin we’ve asked God
to forgive us for…what do
kids understand that we
need to learn?
19. Honestly how many of
you at one point in your
life or another have
asked for God’s
forgiveness yet don’t
feel forgiven?
32. 36 When one of the Pharisees invited
Jesus to have dinner with him, he went
to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at
the table. 37 A woman in that town who
lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was
eating at the Pharisee’s house, so she
came there with an alabaster jar of
perfume.
Luke 7:36-39 NIV 2012
33. 38 As she stood behind him at his feet
weeping, she began to wet his feet with
her tears. Then she wiped them with
her hair, kissed them and poured
perfume on them.39 When the Pharisee
who had invited him saw this, he said to
himself, “If this man were a prophet, he
would know who is touching him and
what kind of woman she is—that she is
a sinner.
Luke 7:36-39 NIV 2012
36. 44 Then he turned toward the woman
and said to Simon, “Do you see this
woman? I came into your house. You
did not give me any water for my feet,
but she wet my feet with her tears and
wiped them with her hair. 45 You did not
give me a kiss, but this woman, from
the time I entered, has not stopped
kissing my feet.
Luke 7:44-48 NIV 2012
37. 46 You did not put oil on my head, but
she has poured perfume on my feet. 47
Therefore, I tell you, her many sins
have been forgiven—as her great love
has shown. But whoever has been
forgiven little loves little.” 48 Then Jesus
said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.”
Luke 7:44-48 NIV 2012
42. 37 A woman in that town who lived a
sinful life learned that Jesus was eating
at the Pharisee’s house, so she came
there with an alabaster jar of perfume.
38 As she stood behind him at his feet
weeping, she began to wet his feet with
her tears. Then she wiped them with
her hair, kissed them and poured
perfume on them.
Luke 7:37-38 NIV 2012
44. What is the significance
of this perfume?
1 year of wages.
45. Most people look at this as
the most extravagant act
of worship toward Jesus in
scripture and it is but there
is more… at this time in an
Arab culture, the perfume
was worn around the neck
of the prostitute.
46. As men would walk by
they would smell the
perfume and that was the
sole sign that the woman
was selling her body.
47. Pouring the perfume
wasn’t just an act of love
but a declaration that she
will never be a prostitute
ever again. She poured
out on Jesus any future
opportunity to sin.
48. The grace of God is
dangerous, lavish,
excessive, outrageous,
and scandalous.
49. The person who receives
this gift with childlike faith
will never be the same.
50. It will change their view
of their past and future.
It will change the hearts
affection and life’s direction.
