Chris Brown - Beautiful People Music Video Analysis
- 2. • At the beginning of the music video, the star constructor ‘Chris Brown’ and his mates ride along the streets with a panning shot observing their every move, they approach a character who looks to be homeless but is actually apart of their crew. We get the impression that these characters are bad people due to the clothes they are wearing and the way they approach the street at night but they are actually good characters helping people out. The censorship on the bench shows that they can not promote the advert. • The panning shot depicts the characters riding scooters at night which could be seen as immature but trendy, the non-diegetic sound in the background is extremely catchy as the upbeat beat engages the audience. The lyrics “everywhere I go” portrays the locations in which this music video is set, it is set at night which can be seen as peaceful. The upbeat sound tells us that the genre of this song is ‘Hip-Hop’. • This panning shot is a view from the side which depicts the characters riding the streets at night. The lyrics are motivational and encouraging as the star constructor sings “The only thing I see is, beautiful people” . The characters are dressed as trendy, cool characters which show that they follow the modern day trend.
- 3. This low angle mid-waist shot shows the star constructor Chris Brown having a casual conversation with a stranger, this image depicts the ‘beautiful people’ he is singing about. The low angle mid-waist shot makes the characters look dominant and you could say ‘beautiful’. The lyrics “Everywhere I go, all I see is beautiful people” is what this image portrays. This entices the audience as they feel they can relate to the lyrics. All these shots show the montage the star constructor has put together. The music video is based of many scenes and mostly non-diegetic sound being played in the background. These kaleidoscopic colours portrays the lighting in this music video, it matches the beat and is a genre signifier. The lights are funky and crazy which engages the audience significantly.
- 4. Chris Brown has included some really famous artist who also follow the same genre. He has included artists such as Pharrel Williams, The Game, Nelly, Bow Wow, Kevin McCall, Estelle, T-Pain, Tyga, Lil Wayne and Omarion. These names have been spread out during the music video as the star constructor has created a montage of so man fascinating scenes which include panning shots and close-up shots. These artists will attract a lot of media attention and entice a huge audience as all these artist have a huge fan base.
- 5. The star constructor has tried to send a message across to all his viewers in his music video by saying “Don’t let them bring you down” and that everyone is beautiful. This will encourage people as the song has positive vibes and is funky. It also motivates the fans as the star constructor entices the audience significantly. The YouTube comments are extremely positive and encouraging as the fans are showing support to the star constructor.
