- 2. Face it Stage: I chose Child Labor for my topic. I chose Child Labor because I knew what it was and I wanted to learn even more about this situation from all over the world. What I want to do today is show the people how important and serious this problem is.
- 3. Trace it Stage: Did you know that there are more than 158 million children working around the world right now?
- 4. AN EXAMPLE OF CHILD LABOR: In Liberia, the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company operate a metal plantation with workers bringing children to actually work.
- 5. Yet another example: In Postville, Iowa, Agriprocessors (a kosher meatpacking company which had recently been raided by Immigration and Customs Enforcement) had employed 57 minors, some as young as 14, in violation of state law prohibiting anyone under 18 from working in meat packing plant.
- 6. Erase it Stage:Prediction – call to action My opinion would be that if we all want to end Child Labor, the government has to make all laws about Child Labor more strictly and enforce them, making sure that employers obey them and to punish them if they don’t (penalties or closure of their businesses). I also believe that if we make sure that parents realize that Child Labor isn’t just for them to depend on their kids working, then it would make Child Labor decreases in the statistics.
