Igniting the Potential
Recently, we celebrated the first anniversary of the
Educational Center. Since its commencement in June
2009, more than hundred kids have attended classes.
The English classes, offered after school, are forming the
basis to develop the potential of less-privileged children.
We help them to increase their knowledge in areas like,

hygiene, environment, values and other essential subjects.
In addition, children learn to recite poems, deliver
speeches, sing and act.
Most of these children do not perform well at school.
However, it is very exciting to see how the talents of
these kids are being developed. This was clearly shown
during the celebration of the first anniversary. Children
compered, recited poems, gave speeches and an oratory
of Shakespeare, sang songs and performed skits.
It is amazing what the children have achieved in such a
short time.

Seminar Healthy Leadership

In July, a seminar on ‘Healthy Leadership’ was conducted
by a Dutch friend, who is a management consultant.
The seminar was attended by thirty-nine participants,
including five staff members of Cherith. We received
many positive comments from participants. One of them
wrote, “Thanks for giving us some brand new ideas on
leadership and to help discover our potential.“

Family News
We are living in a remote, mountainous area in Sri Lanka.
Reinier and Johannes are attending a local school and
excelling in studies.
Although we lack facilities like in urban areas and the
West, Reinier and Johannes enjoy themselves. They have
many friends and play sports, such as cricket, basketball,
football and table tennis. They also have karate lessons
and received the purple belt recently.

150 hands or 750 fingertips.

By donating $100 per hand or $20 per fingertip, we can
               make this dream a reality!
