This document defines and provides examples of different types of characters in stories. It discusses main and minor characters, dynamic and static characters, and flat and round characters. Main characters are central to the story's events, while minor characters help move the plot along. Dynamic characters change over time in response to events, whereas static characters remain unchanged. Flat characters are one-dimensional with little personality development, whereas round characters are fully developed with complex personalities, thoughts, and feelings revealed to the reader.

 The characters in a story are the people,
animals, or imaginary creatures that take
part in the action
 In most stories, the events center around
one or main (major) characters
 Minor characters are other characters
who interact with the main character and
help move the story along

3. Dynamic and Static Characters
Dynamic characters change as a
result of events. An example of a
dynamic character is Elsa from
Frozen. Her heart changes over the
course of the movie.
Static characters remain unchanged.
An example of this is Hans. He never
changed throughout the movie.

4. Flat and Round Characters
 A flat character is a character that the reader
only knows a little bit about his life or
personality. This character is very one
dimensional. Sheldon Cooper is an example of
a flat character.
 A round character is a character that has been
fully developed by the author. The reader
knows much about the character’s personality,
thoughts and feelings. Katniss Everdeen is an
example of a round character.
