requirements
To develop the knowhow and strength to
improve your leadership character in your daily
life as a family member, friend, student, coach,
player, teacher and teammate.
YOUR character must be closely guarded and valued.
While it takes a lifetime to build, it only takes a second to
lose. Being in the wrong place at the wrong time can
tarnish your character for a lifetime. Especially regarding
the world of Social Media!!
Review the following curriculum with a group or by
yourself and reflect on how you as a leader can improve
and maintain your character.

Instructions
4. Search for cracks1
Be aware of areas you struggle with (it may help to ask those closest
to you). When mistakes occur, evaluate why, and make sure it doesn’t
happen again. Improve in the areas where you are weak and strive to
build a solid foundation…free of cracks.
5. Look for patterns2
Patterns of behavior can show you your weakness. Trusted
colleagues, accountability partners can also help point out areas of
personal weakness. As captain, you should build a diverse team to
help identify and point out potentially destructive patterns.
6. Face the music3
When weakness and cracks in your foundation are identified, deal
with it before a slight flaw becomes a fatal mistake. Leaders whose
character is publicly attacked most likely don’t have people around to
point it out. Face your flaws, address them, and learn how to avoid or
improve.
7. Rebuild4
Admit mistakes as soon as they happen, take responsibility, and
begin work on rebuilding. Mistakes will happen along the way, your
character may take a hit, but those whom you lead need to see a
leader who begins to rebuild immediately and does not run from
mistakes. Admit wrongdoing, publicly blame no one but yourself
regardless of the true facts, and rebuild.
