Personally, I feel reflection is a very important part of character and it has become a very important part of my day.Talk about KWC reflection and how that helped youMaybe set aside time for thisAlso want prayers and readings in chapel to become less rote (hard to do; just must be consciously aware)Understand that not everyone is on the same step in their spiritual journey but doing it together can helpAccountability partner helpsReflection can help the students of All Saints look inside and be honest with themselves and, hopefully, want to better themselves and their character through reflection.
The teachers enforce the honor code, but the children don’t uphold it. This gives them a loss of integrity. When they are sitting in the hallway copying other people’s work, it is often because they would rather finish it, get the grade, and be done. They do not care enough to uphold the honor code, try the lesson, and if they do not understand, go into tutoring. They do not realize that if they get good homework grades from copying when they do not understand it, it will hurt them in the long run on tests. It is better to be true to yourself, and help yourself out, rise above expectations, than to fool yourself into thinking your doing fine. We can fix this by helping the kids realize that tutoring is for everyone, and everyone is going to need help on a concept every once in a while. And going to tutoring gives you much more help than your friend’s homework.
Acceptance of others is an important factor of genuine character in a school setting. It is hard to teach acceptance because it is a quality in a person that can not be taught. However, what it is and how it affects people can. It is universally known that nearly everyone has felt like an outsider amongst a group of people, or has been denied the acceptance that they deserve. By having school faculty and staff educate students on what acceptance is, it will continue to build and shape the overall character of the school.
