Chapter 4 - The Road to Violet City

The protagonist arrives at Route 31 near Violet City and has a Pokémon battle with another trainer, James. In the battle, the protagonist's Aipom defeats James' Pidgey using its spring-like tail to gain momentum for a powerful scratch attack. After winning, the protagonist invites James to travel with them towards Azalea Town, where James is heading. James accepts and the two trainers continue on to Violet City and the protagonist's first gym challenge together with their Pokémon.
