Mrs. Brown teaches her third grade class about imperialism by having students Timothy and Sarah build houses out of blocks. She then adds onto their houses without permission to demonstrate how imperialism works. Sometimes the country being taken over, like Timothy, is happy with the changes, but sometimes, like Sarah, they are unhappy with losing control. The class now has a basic understanding of imperialism as a larger country taking control of a smaller one and influencing it, sometimes positively and sometimes negatively.
