IN THE WORKPLACE SETTING
IS IMPORTANT BECAUSE……

setting, every day.
And as it does, it effects the individual,
their work,
and their workplace.
Life and Work Situations affecting employees
include:
• Addiction or substance abuse
• Depression
• Gambling
• Illness: self, child, family member
• Financial difficulty
• Parenting struggles
• Spousal abuse or family violence
• Aging and elder care
• Separation or divorce
• Spiritual concerns
• Workplace stress
• Workplace injury
• Workplace violence
• Incarceration
• Tardiness and absenteeism
• Death or loss
These situations lead to :
• Performance issues
• Workplace conflict
• Unfocused work
• Injuries
• Bad work product
• Unattended crisis
The Chaplain Helps by:
• Listening & Empathizing with the employee
• Helping create a plan of action
• Giving focused attention and care
• Empowering the employee
The employee begins to feel:
• There’s someone here who cares and can
help me
• I am connected
• I feel good about myself
• Change is taking place
Workplace Chaplains :
• Are Available and Responsive to needs
• Provide on site and off site visits including: home, hospital and nursing
home, funeral visits, incarceration visits
• Hold confidential meetings
• Provide Wedding services, prayer, funeral services.
• Personal counseling
• Pre-marital counseling
• Marital counseling
• Family counseling
Workplace Chaplains also:
• Provide conflict and dispute resolution
• Provide Mediation
• Help with Employment transition
• Refer to other trusted community services
as the need arises.
Results:
• Better attitudes and less conflict
• Greater innovation, creativity
• Greater appreciation of management
• Fewer complaints
• Better relationships for all.
• Increased employee retention
• Increased productivity
Workplace chaplains are
an asset to the worker as
well as to the company.
