Sean Couzyn, an architect in Johannesburg, tested Autodesk Revit software and found it delivered significant efficiencies that transformed his practice. The software uses a model-based approach where a single digital model contains all project information. This allowed Couzyn to design 11 residential projects ranging from $300,000 to $1.8 million in just two months, tripling his capacity without increasing staff. Autodesk Revit's ease-of-use and ability to instantly revise designs across all documentation helped Couzyn work more efficiently and securely.
The document discusses how the field of industrial design has evolved from craft artisans using hand tools to practitioners using digital tools and new processes like photo and digital typesetting, laser printing, and rapid prototyping. It also discusses how design now involves more collaboration, insights, strategies, iterations, and sophisticated products and services to meet higher consumer expectations amid changing technologies. Good design has always involved collaborating, innovating, exploring, creating meaning, craft, skill, insight, awareness of technology and business needs, seeing intersections, storytelling, and other factors.
This document discusses meaningful connected products and how they have transformed from being purely functional to also being emotional. It mentions examples like the B&O MC40 speaker and "furby" as products that achieved this transformation. The document also discusses the importance of understanding the context of use, both temporally and through empathy, when designing meaningful connected products. It proposes a process for designing (eco)systems that involves analyzing contexts, identifying actors, creating and specifying actor networks, and defining outcomes.
This document discusses 3D Systems, the largest company in the 3D printing industry. 3D Systems provides a range of 3D content-to-print solutions including 3D printers, custom parts services, CAD software, and more. 2012 Vendor Session, Smart Web Editing and Workflow Optimization, Jeff TomlinsonGIS in the Rockies
Working in multi-disciplinary environments introduces complex requirements and challenges that many conventional GIS solutions cannot support. While all users in an organization may require access to common data, access to specific records may vary depending on department, role, or geographic jurisdiction. User access may also vary as responsibilities change over the course of a project lifecycle. You need a solution that meets the needs of multidisciplinary organizations such as Departments of Transportation or municipal government, with highly configurable rules and a workflow engine that enables the implementation of dynamic life-cycle workflows, feature-level access control, data validation and behavior, and integration to other systems. Discover the breadth of organizations that have deployed such a solution, from municipalities, through transportation and utility infrastructure operators, to government emergency management agencies.

zkStudyClub - LatticeFold: A Lattice-based Folding Scheme and its Application...Alex Pruden
Folding is a recent technique for building efficient recursive SNARKs. Several elegant folding protocols have been proposed, such as Nova, Supernova, Hypernova, Protostar, and others. However, all of them rely on an additively homomorphic commitment scheme based on discrete log, and are therefore not post-quantum secure. In this work we present LatticeFold, the first lattice-based folding protocol based on the Module SIS problem. This folding protocol naturally leads to an efficient recursive lattice-based SNARK and an efficient PCD scheme. LatticeFold supports folding low-degree relations, such as R1CS, as well as high-degree relations, such as CCS. The key challenge is to construct a secure folding protocol that works with the Ajtai commitment scheme. The difficulty, is ensuring that extracted witnesses are low norm through many rounds of folding. We present a novel technique using the sumcheck protocol to ensure that extracted witnesses are always low norm no matter how many rounds of folding are used. Our evaluation of the final proof system suggests that it is as performant as Hypernova, while providing post-quantum security.

We’ll show you how to fix common misconfigurations that cause higher-than-expected user counts, and how to identify accounts which you can deactivate to save money. There are also frequent patterns that can cause unnecessary cost, like using a person document instead of a mail-in for shared mailboxes. We’ll provide examples and solutions for those as well. And naturally we’ll explain the new licensing model.
Join HCL Ambassador Marc Thomas in this webinar with a special guest appearance from Franz Walder. It will give you the tools and know-how to stay on top of what is going on with Domino licensing. You will be able lower your cost through an optimized configuration and keep it low going forward.
These topics will be covered
- Reducing license cost by finding and fixing misconfigurations and superfluous accounts
- How do CCB and CCX licenses really work?
- Understanding the DLAU tool and how to best utilize it
- Tips for common problem areas, like team mailboxes, functional/test users, etc
- Practical examples and best practices to implement right away
