I. Jesus took Peter, James, and John up a mountain where he was transfigured before them. His face shone brightly and his clothes became white and gleaming. Moses and Elijah appeared and spoke with Jesus. II. A voice from a cloud proclaimed "This is my Son, whom I have chosen; listen to him." Jesus alone was identified as the leader they should listen to. III. The transfiguration reinforced that Jesus would suffer and die but ultimately be resurrected, and it highlighted him as the fulfillment of the law and the prophets.
