Chandrayaan-1 was India's first lunar probe launched in 2008 to conduct scientific research on the Moon. The probe carried high resolution cameras and spectrometers to map the lunar surface and search for water and minerals. An antenna on the probe was used to receive signals from Earth and transmit data back about its findings on the Moon.
