The three secrets for making a difference in the world: Helping with educatio...Logged On Foundation
Our CEO makes a case for using ICTs in education in rural schools in Nepal. The presentation is framed in terms of the "Three Secrets" or the essential elements that can help ensure that computers and the internet have a positive impact on the education of children in government schools. The presentation also goes onto discuss the positive impact technology can have on communities at large.
We hope that this presentation helps to advocate the benefits that technology can bring to less privileged areas of the world as well as what attributes are required, in our experience, to help ensure the successful outcomes of these types of projects. The presentation also promotes our work and we hope will allow us to gain more support from the public so we can continue to help more schools on a not-for-profit basis.
Most of the photos in the presentation were taken at our project sites in Nepal and are copyright of the author with a few public domain/open license photos and graphics used to illustrate the general discussion.

REPORT ON ANALYZING SOCIAL ENTITLEMENTS THROUGH LOCAL GOVERNANCE AT PANCHAYAT...DEEPAK J
The main agenda of the village visit programme was to help students garner information on governance and development in villages- both from the perspective of the administrative side as well as that of the inhabitants. On interacting with the Government officials of the villages, we obtained first-hand information on schemes like the Mukhya Mantri Grameen Awas Mission, the Indira Gandhi Awas Yojana, the Nandan Phalodyan (under NREGA), the mid day meal scheme and Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan. They also gleaned insights on the challenges faced by the administration in executing these schemes.

2. Our Idea Imagine a kid in the village teaching his mother about the importance of hygiene or his dad about the environmentally safe farming practices! Science experiments video streamed across the internet to the enthusiastic village kids! The dream is not faraway, with community knowledge hubs delivering innovative learning modules through Information Communication tools. The hubs address the knowledge needs of not the children alone, but all age groups in the village hence making learning fun and life meaningful. The main target population will be the school going children; but the benefits don’t stop there. Agricultural consultancy for the farmers, capacity building for the youth and much more. Learning will be more interactive and of higher quality; more meaningful and the modules will be customized towards identified personal interests. Isn’t learning fun!
3. 1. The Indian education system needs decentralization of the system, i.e. more authority and accessibility given to the local bodies in the form of funds, infrastructure building, recruitment of teachers etc. Setting up community centers at the district/mandal level, mobilizing people, fetching new talents, encouraging them by all means will help aid this. - Elango, Social Change Maker and Village Panchayat Leader, Kuthambakkam Village, Tamil Nadu, India. 2. We want to learn spoken English, public speaking, problem-solving skills, computers apart for academics. Afreen, Student, Class IX, Vivekanand Public School Perspectives that guide us
4. 3. Fun is something which is not compulsive. It may differ for different people. Once this fun is created for learning we would surely be hungry for more knowledge. - Sushma Pandey, Enforcement Manager, RamKrishna Mission, Skill development of the Under-privileged, was a major in Indian Army More thoughts from our interviewees
5. We would like to interview Mr. KapilSibal, Minister of Human Resource Development and Minister of Communications and Information Technology, India. His opinion would matter a lot to us as he handles two such ministries that complement each other to make our dream a success!
