Theology of the body is a series of speeches by Pope John Paul II exploring the meaning of human sexuality and God's plan for love. It covers themes like birth control, the value of the body, and our identity as sons and daughters of God. Theology of the body studies God as revealed through the human body, showing how we reveal something of the mystery of God through our bodies and relationships. It provides a positive understanding of God's plan for love, sex, and relationships.
This document is a guide for a young adult group discussing the theology of the body. It includes an overview of key topics in the theology of the body such as sex and existence, understanding the body as a theology, and God's mystery in the spousal analogy. It also discusses freedom, love, redemption of sexuality, and provides practical tips for living out the theology of the body such as prayer, frequenting the sacraments, and witnessing to the truth. The goal is to help young adults come to know, understand, and live the theology of the body.
The document discusses the authorship, purpose, and themes of 1 John. It was likely written by the apostle John in Ephesus between AD 80-95. The purpose was to strengthen the readers' faith in Christ and assure them of eternal life. Key themes are that God is light and love. John warns against sin and false teachers. The document provides an outline and overview of the contents and main points of each section of 1 John.
The document discusses the dignity and purpose of human sexuality, marriage, and family from a Catholic perspective. It covers how:
1) God created humans in His image to share in His blessed life, calling them to communion.
2) The Trinity reveals God as a divine family of love, and earthly families should reflect this.
3) Marriage allows companionship between spouses, procreation of children, and fulfillment of the sexual bond in a sacred manner.
4) The marital act should fully express the spouses' self-giving love for one another as a reflection of God's love for His people. Contraception contradicts this by withholding full self-gift.
This is a study of Jesus to be destroying the devil's work. He does it in many ways, and this is one of the main reasons for His coming into the world.

The document discusses the philosophical problem of evil and various attempts throughout history to reconcile the existence of an all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-good God with the presence of evil and suffering in the world. It examines perspectives from Epicurus, early church fathers, and the biblical story of Job which questions God's justice in the face of injustice. The problem of evil remains one of the most challenging issues for monotheistic religions to address without diminishing God's divine attributes.
Moral evil arises from intentional actions or inactions by moral agents that are morally negative. There are three types of evil: metaphysical, physical, and moral. Moral evil is found only in intelligent beings and deprives them of some moral good. Sin is defined as any thought, word, or deed against God's eternal law. While temptation itself is not a sin, it can lead one to sin if they consent to improper desires. To resist temptation, one must pray, prepare their will through self-discipline, and turn away from occasions of sin.

1) The document discusses the differences between the true church represented by a pure woman in Revelation 12 and the false church represented as a harlot woman in Revelation 17.
2) It describes how the false church, represented by Babylon, leaves its true lover Jesus and commits spiritual adultery by uniting with political leaders through false doctrines spread like wine in a golden cup.
3) These false doctrines substitute man's teachings for God's word, promote salvation through works rather than grace, and advocate for intercession through statues rather than through Jesus the sole mediator.
This document provides an introduction to concepts related to Divine Principle and the Holy Seeds of Jesus. It discusses how Satan claimed humanity's physical bodies after the Fall of Man, preventing physical salvation. It compares descriptions of the Fall from Ann Lee, William Branham, and Wesley Swift to the Divine Principle's account. It suggests Jesus could have forgiven Original Sin by having a holy marriage and children to create a new lineage. The crucifixion postponed this by removing Jesus' physical body. True Parents were needed to restore the seed and establish the Kingdom of Heaven on earth.
The document discusses biblical roles in the family according to passages from Ephesians and 1 Peter. It summarizes that God intended marriage and family to be the basic building block of society. It then examines biblical roles of wives submitting to husbands, husbands loving wives sacrificially, children obeying and honoring parents, and parents instructing and disciplining children with love. The overall message is that following God's design for families leads to relationship success and a healthy society.
1. The document discusses key differences between traditional Christian teachings about Jesus and the teachings of the Divine Principle. It explains that in the Divine Principle, Jesus was meant to establish God's kingdom on Earth by marrying and having a sinless family to create a pure bloodline, rather than dying on the cross.
2. It notes Jesus needed to graduate to the family level to fulfill his role as the Messiah/True Parent, but was unable to marry. His death on the cross instead established Christianity as the "second Israel."
3. The document compares traditional Christian beliefs about Jesus' resurrection, disciples, and forgiveness of sins to the explanations provided in the Divine Principle. It suggests some traditional Christian
God chooses Abraham through whom to send the Messiah. Abraham is a man of faith who God promises to make into a great nation and through whom all nations will be blessed. Key figures like Isaac, Jacob, Joseph and Melchizedek prefigure aspects of Christ. The book of Genesis establishes major themes of the Bible - creation, the fall of man, God's plan for salvation, and his choosing of Israel as the people through whom the Messiah will come.
Dr. John Oakes is taught a class on Answering the Hard Questions at the 2015 International Christan Evidence Conference at York College in York, Nebraska, June 19-21. He gave a brief overview of the Christian world view before launching into the Christian answer to the questions both believers and non-believers often struggle with, such as the Trinity, the problem of evil, the problem of suffering, the problem of violence in the Old Testament and the problem of Hell. Notes and power point are here:
This document discusses what Christians believe about Jesus Christ based on scripture. It states that believers hold that Jesus is the eternal Son of God who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, died on the cross and was resurrected. The document explores how Jesus was fully God and fully man, discussing biblical passages that show his deity and humanity. It also explains reasons for Jesus' incarnation such as being able to understand human temptation and provide an example of suffering. Finally, it makes comparisons between Jesus as the Lamb of God and the Passover lamb in the Old Testament.
This document discusses biblical teachings on marriage, divorce, and remarriage. It examines passages from Genesis, the Old Testament, teachings of Jesus and Paul. It provides principles such as marriage being intended by God as a lifelong covenant between a man and woman, grounds for divorce being adultery or desertion by an unbeliever, and remarriage being permitted for widows or in cases of divorce due to adultery or desertion. The document also considers several case studies on issues like premarital sex, pornography, infidelity, and forgiveness in the context of biblical guidance.
Many Mennonite groups claim that pre-conversion divorce is the only sin not forgiven covered after conversion. This is dangerous and damaging to a believers walk and many godly families have been torn apart by this false teaching.

This document discusses the biblical account of original sin in Genesis chapter 3. It argues that Genesis 3 provides the foundation for understanding the problems of the world. It describes how before the fall, God declared creation "very good" but now it is filled with disorder, chaos, pain, and death. It explains that when Adam and Eve disobeyed God by eating the forbidden fruit, their actions introduced sin and altered human nature, so that all humans from then on have been born sinners. The fall explains why the world is no longer "very good" and why people find it easier to do wrong than right.
This document examines the difference between true Christianity and counterfeit Christianity. It discusses how few Christians experience daily joy, and defines joy as a supernatural delight in God and his goodness, distinguishing it from happiness which depends on circumstances. It notes that depression stems from a lack of trust in God's promises. The document outlines how there are those who think they can have Christianity's fruits without commitment to Christ, and those who think they are Christian but have not committed their lives to Christ. It examines Philippians 3:1-3 to outline the qualities of the false Christian versus the true Christian, and how the Bible's main theme is setting forth the gospel, with a secondary theme of identifying true Christians.
The document discusses the connections between the Old Testament Passover and the Last Supper celebrated by Jesus and his disciples. It shows how elements of the Passover, like the lamb's blood providing protection from judgment, pointed forward to Jesus as the ultimate sacrifice who's blood provides salvation. Jesus commands his followers to continue celebrating the Lord's Supper in remembrance of his death, which fulfilled the Passover and establishes the new covenant through his blood. Believers are called to trust solely in Christ's atoning death for forgiveness of sins and God's promise to pass over judgment for those covered by the blood of the lamb.

The document discusses the Christian doctrine of salvation, outlining it as a three-fold process of justification, sanctification, and glorification. It defines justification as God declaring believers righteous based on Christ's righteousness, occurring as a one-time event upon believing. Sanctification is the ongoing process of being saved as believers are transformed by God. Glorification will be when believers are fully saved upon entering heaven.
The Roman Catholic Church is sometimes criticized for clarifying that Protestants should not partake of Holy Communion at Mass. There are significant doctrinal differences between Catholics and Protestants as regards not only Holy Communion but also the purpose of the Mass.

This document discusses doctrinal interpretation of Scripture. It emphasizes admitting theological bias, thoroughly collecting and exegeting biblical materials on a subject, unifying materials while prioritizing the New Testament, and stating conclusions with biblical references. Doctrinal statements have varying degrees of authority depending on whether they are direct statements, implications, probable implications, or inductive conclusions. Doctrines should never be based on personal experiences, non-biblical texts, or disputed passages.
When we examine the establishment, examples and correction given concerning the Lord’s Supper we understand that our Lord Jesus desires that Christians must partake of the Lord’s supper together on the first day of the week.
Yeshua (Jesus) celebrates the Passover meal with his disciples, during which he identifies Judas as the traitor, washes his disciples' feet, and institutes the Lord's Supper. He then addresses the disciples in the upper room, on the way to Gethsemane, and intercedes with God. In Gethsemane, Yeshua agonizes over his coming crucifixion before being betrayed and arrested by Judas, who kisses him to identify him to the soldiers.
This document outlines a 4-week sermon series on the five senses of the cross. Week 1 will focus on the sense of hearing and the sounds of the passion, including Jesus breaking bread and sharing wine during the Last Supper, singing a hymn with the disciples, and the various sounds that occurred during his arrest and trial. The series will then cover the senses of sight, touch, and taste and smell over the following three weeks.
This document outlines a 4-week series on the five senses of the cross. Week 1 focuses on the sense of hearing, with scripture readings from Luke about Jesus praying in Gethsemane prior to his arrest. Week 2 examines the sense of sight, questioning common depictions of Gethsemane as peaceful through images from Van Gogh. Week 3 will discuss the sense of touch, and week 4 will cover the senses of taste and touch, including a Christian Seder meal and communion.
Jesus returns to Galilee where he teaches in synagogues and gains popularity. He goes to Nazareth where he was raised but is rejected by the townspeople. In the synagogue, Jesus reads from Isaiah about bringing good news to the poor and oppressed. He claims this Scripture is fulfilled in him but the people are angry because they cannot accept him as more than the carpenter's son. Jesus tells them no prophet is accepted in their hometown, citing examples from Elijah and Elisha. Enraged, the people try to throw Jesus off a cliff but he escapes.
Jesus travels to Capernaum after being rejected in Nazareth. In the synagogue, he casts out an unclean demon from a man. The people are amazed by his authority over evil spirits. Later, Jesus heals Simon Peter's mother-in-law of a fever and many others who are sick. Despite trying to leave for solitary prayer, the crowds search for Jesus and ask him to stay, but he says he must preach about the kingdom of God in other towns as well.
The document discusses Paul's preaching to the Areopagus in Athens. It notes that the Areopagus was a court that had authority over civil and religious matters in Athens. Paul would have addressed the court either on Mars Hill below the Acropolis, or in the northwest corner of the Agora, where the group held meetings. Christian apologetics aims to present rational arguments defending Christianity against objections and to justify Christian beliefs, drawing from texts in the New Testament that command believers to evangelize and spread the faith.
Jesus shares a final Passover meal with his disciples before his crucifixion. He tells them this will be the last time they celebrate the Passover and announces that the bread and wine will now symbolize his body and blood in the new covenant. Despite the betrayal and uncertainty ahead, Jesus uses the meal to strengthen his disciples and establish the tradition of Holy Communion. The disciples argue about which of them is greatest, but Jesus teaches them that true greatness comes from humility and service.
1) The document discusses the history and significance of communion and the Lord's Supper in the Bible and early church.
2) It describes how Jesus established the tradition of the Last Supper and its symbolism of bread and wine representing his body and blood.
3) It summarizes Paul's teachings to the Corinthians about properly discerning and partaking in communion as a unified community, rather than exacerbating divisions, to avoid bringing judgment on themselves.
The document discusses Communion and the importance of remembering Jesus' sacrifice through taking bread and wine. It quotes passages from 1 Corinthians instructing believers to partake in Communion to remember Jesus until his return. It says taking Communion improperly without self-examination makes one guilty of Jesus' body and blood. The purpose of Communion is to remember, rejoice, repent, and reconcile with God and others. Prayers included ask for forgiveness and strength to serve God.
Sermon Slide Deck: "Spiritual Feasting" (Luke 22:7-20)New City Church

1. The document discusses the importance and cost of discipleship according to Jesus' example and teachings. It emphasizes that Jesus' primary method for making followers was through intentional discipleship, not large evangelistic crusades.
2. Effective discipleship involves investing deeply in a few people to help them grow in spiritual maturity and obedience to Christ, with the goal that they would then disciple others. This snowball method is argued to be far more effective for reaching the world than converting many people with little spiritual depth.
3. True discipleship requires denying oneself, taking up one's cross daily, and being completely committed to following Christ regardless of personal cost. Only disciples who count this cost can reproduce
The document discusses aspects of God the Son based on studying chapters 8-13 of Major Bible Themes. It covers His deity and incarnation as fully God and fully man, His incarnation as laying aside glory but not deity, His substitutionary death as satisfying God's demands and reconciling the world to God, and His resurrection, ascension and future coming. It provides biblical support and examines Christ's humanity and reasons for the incarnation.
The document discusses the doctrine of salvation according to Baptist theology. It covers four aspects of righteousness: regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification. It also addresses salvation from the power of sin and how victory over sin is only possible through the power of the Holy Spirit. Christians still struggle with sin due to their old sinful nature but can find freedom through walking in the Spirit rather than according to their flesh.
This document discusses the meaning and nature of salvation according to the Bible. It states that salvation is a work of God, not man, that rescues people from sin and its consequences. While animal sacrifices in the Old Testament temporarily covered sins, only the death of Jesus on the cross fully paid the penalty for sin once and for all. The document outlines how salvation involves redemption, forgiveness, regeneration and more. It emphasizes that salvation is conditioned solely on faith in Christ's atoning work, not works of any kind.
1. The document discusses different approaches to understanding the concept of sin, from those who see it as not really a problem to those who see it as ignorance or suppression of individuality.
2. It then outlines the biblical doctrine of sin, including that sin is a lack of conformity to God's character, that humans have a sinful nature inherited from Adam, and that sin is imputed or reckoned to our account.
3. Key aspects of sin discussed are personal sin, the sinful nature of man, and the legal reality that we are still sinners in need of salvation through Jesus Christ.
It then explores how individuals can experience salvation through repentance, faith, justification and regeneration as they contemplate God's love and pardoning grace shown through Christ's death. Salvation radically changes the believer as it forgives all sin and grants them new life.
The document discusses the biblical concept of sin and how it affects humanity. It makes several key points: (1) Man was created with free will but voluntarily chose to sin; (2) A proper understanding of sin is necessary to grasp its remedy through salvation; (3) Sin manifests itself against God, others, and oneself; (4) Sin has corrupted humanity's spiritual, mental and physical nature since the fall of Adam. The purpose of humanity is to fulfill God's plan but sin has hindered submission to this purpose.
This document provides a guide for becoming a witness and soul winner for Jesus Christ. It covers the following key points:
I. The commission to go and make disciples requires compassion for others and a concern for their spiritual well-being. Effective witnessing involves personal contact with others to share the gospel message.
II. The guide outlines a four-step approach to personal evangelism involving introduction, asking diagnostic questions, presenting the gospel message, and obtaining a commitment. It also discusses following up with new believers.
III. Effective witnessing depends on relying on God's power and sharing the message person-to-person through a tactful and loving approach aimed at bringing others to faith in Christ.
1. Grace refers to the undeserved favor and mercy that God freely gives to believers through Jesus Christ. It is not something that is earned or deserved.
2. Most Christians do not fully understand grace and try to earn salvation through good works rather than relying on God's power and mercy. Living by grace means relying on the Holy Spirit's strength rather than one's own.
3. God's grace is more than sufficient for every need and gives believers everything they require to live obedient, victorious lives.
This document provides an overview of distinctive features of several New Testament books and letters. It discusses key passages, themes, and similarities and differences between the books of James, 1 Peter, 2 Peter, Jude, 1 John, 2 John, 3 John. It also provides a summary of a discussion on how to change the world according to John, focusing on identity, vocation, and protective boundaries. The document is for a New Testament survey class and includes devotion, updates, and discussion questions.
The document discusses mourning over sin and what it means to be blessed according to Matthew 5:1-12. It explains that the only sorrow that leads to salvation is godly sorrow over sin, which leads to repentance. True Christians will mourn over their sins their whole lives and continually confess them. Those who express sorrow for their sins will receive comfort from God. Some hindrances to mourning over sin include love of sin, despair, conceit, procrastination, and excessive merriment. Understanding the cross and having an acute awareness of one's own sinfulness and the sins of others can help a person truly mourn over sin.
This document contains a series of quotes and passages about worshiping God and knowing God. It discusses that life's purpose is to worship God, and anything else is just a benefit. It also discusses that knowing God is not achieved through human effort, but by being found in Christ through faith, and experiencing fellowship with Christ. Works alone have no role, the proper motivation for any works must be love for God rather than duty. The document encourages readers to begin by desiring to know Christ more, and to abide in him through faith.
Nicodemus, a Pharisee and member of the Jewish ruling council, comes to Jesus at night with questions. He recognizes Jesus as a teacher who performs miraculous signs and acknowledges God is with him. Jesus tells Nicodemus one must be born again of water and spirit to see God's kingdom. Nicodemus does not understand and Jesus explains that being born again is a spiritual rebirth, not physical. One must have faith in Jesus to gain eternal life and not perish. God sent his son so the world may be saved through him.

The document discusses the problem of suffering in the world and its root cause of sin. It states that when God created the world it was good, but man brought sin into the world by transgressing God's law. Sin effects are poverty, broken relationships, enslavement, blindness, oppression, sickness and death. Most people today are poor spiritually and blind to sin. The only solution is the gospel, which can forgive past sins, help overcome sins today through the Holy Spirit, and solve the eternal problem of hell by Christ's death and resurrection. Believing the gospel reconciles one to God and allows walking in newness of life.
The document summarizes the Baptist Faith & Message, outlining several key beliefs:
1) The Scriptures are completely true and should be the basis for testing all human behavior and religious opinions.
2) God is described as the Creator, Redeemer, and Ruler of the universe, existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit with separate personal characteristics but of the same divine nature.
3) Salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification, and is received only through personal faith in Jesus Christ.

This document provides a summary and analysis of 1 John 2:1-2. It discusses how Jesus was the greatest sacrifice by being the atoning sacrifice for our sins and for the sins of the whole world. It explains that Jesus is our advocate with the Father and the propitiation for our sins, meaning he appeases God's wrath and turns it away from us. Having Jesus as our advocate and propitiation encourages us to not sin and recognizes our liability to sin despite being good people, while also providing gracious forgiveness for when we do sin.

This document discusses the importance of making disciples who make disciples based on the models of Jesus and Paul. It notes that while many churches believe in and teach discipleship, few actually implement disciple-making processes like intentional relationships and accountability. The document cites examples of churches that grew when they shifted from a program-based to a relationship-based discipleship approach and created clear spiritual pathways expecting life transformation. It encourages pastors to invest in discipling relationships above all other activities.
It is common to refer to the process of maturing as a disciple as spiritual formation. Here, based upon work by Greg Ogden, I give a four stage process for growing into maturity, and fruitfulness, as a follower of King Jesus.
Jesus expected a process of change, growth and development in the life of his followers. Many writers suggest a three or four stage process. A four stage process is outlined here, along with personal challenge / application.
Disciple-Making, according to Greg Ogden requires at least tow major factors: Internalisation and Multiplication. This presentation adds to his ideas with some scripture and illustrative ideas challenging followers of Christ to become, and make, disciples in his image.
Name someone...who has impacted your life.
Disiple-making is a deliberate act requiring discipline and dedication
“Discipleship is all about living the life together rather than just one structured meeting each week” Chan
This document provides a summary of the New Testament story in four hours. It is divided into three time periods in the life of Jesus: 1) His first 30 years before ministry, 2) His three years of public ministry in and around Israel, and 3) His crucifixion, resurrection, and ascension. The first section focuses on Jesus' birth and early life, including key details from the nativity story presented in the gospels of Matthew and Luke.
This document provides an overview and summary of key events and people in the Old Testament from Eden to Israel entering the Promised Land. It discusses 4 main moves: 1) From Eden to Israel; 2) From Israel to Egypt; 3) 40 years in the wilderness; 4) Entering the Promised Land. Key points covered include Creation, the Fall, Noah, Abraham, Joseph in Egypt, Moses and the Exodus, receiving the 10 Commandments at Mt. Sinai, and Joshua leading the people into Canaan.
The document provides guidance on discipleship and disciple-making. It begins by defining a disciple as someone who is following Jesus, being changed by Jesus, and committed to Jesus' mission. It then discusses the importance of discipleship, noting that disciples are meant to be world-changers and that one-on-one discipleship is the most effective method, replicating itself over time. The document concludes by outlining models of discipleship, including sharing the gospel, connecting with others, helping them minister, and ultimately making them disciples who can repeat the process.
The document summarizes the biblical story of Babel in Genesis 11, where all humanity spoke one language but decided to build a tower to make themselves famous. God responded by confusing their languages, scattering them across the earth and enforcing his command to spread out. It also discusses the origins of different ethnicities and races. The next section introduces Abraham, called at age 75 to leave Haran and given promises by God of land, descendants and blessing through his offspring. The covenant with Abraham sets the agenda for the rest of the Bible by being fulfilled through Christ.
The document outlines key events in the biblical story of humanity's origins and early history:
1. God creates the universe and places the first man and woman in the Garden of Eden.
2. Adam and Eve rebel against God and are banished from the Garden, introducing sin and brokenness into the world.
3. As sin and death spread, God brings a flood to wipe out most of humanity while saving Noah, his family, and two of every kind of animal on an ark.
This document provides an overview of the upcoming "The Old Testament Story" learning and development series starting on September 2nd. It outlines the 4 main movements of the Old Testament story from Eden to Israel, Israel in the promised land, Israel to exile and return. Key details include the main people, events, and sections covered within the 11 most important books that make up 95% of the Old Testament narrative.
Astronism, Cosmism and Cosmodeism: the space religions espousing the doctrine...Cometan
This lecture created by Brandon Taylorian (aka Cometan) specially for the CESNUR Conference held Bordeaux in June 2024 provides a brief introduction to the legacy of religious and philosophical thought that Astronism emerges from, namely the discourse on transcension started assuredly by the Cosmists in Russia in the mid-to-late nineteenth century and then carried on and developed by Mordecai Nessyahu in Cosmodeism in the twentieth century. Cometan also then provides some detail on his story in founding Astronism in the early twenty-first century from 2013 along with details on the central Astronist doctrine of transcension. Finally, the lecture concludes with some contributions made by space religions and space philosophy and their influences on various cultural facets in art, literature and film.

Lição 12: João 15 a 17 – O Espírito Santo e a Oração Sacerdotal | 2° Trimestr...OmarBarrezueta1
The Book of Revelation, filled with symbolic and apocalyptic imagery, presents one of its most striking visions in Revelation 9:3-12—the locust army. Understanding the significance of this locust army provides insight into the broader themes of divine judgment, protection, and the ultimate triumph of God’s will as depicted in Revelation.

Lucid Dreaming: Understanding the Risks and Benefits
The ability to control one's dreams or for the dreamer to be aware that he or she is dreaming. This process, called lucid dreaming, has some potential risks as well as many fascinating benefits. However, many people are hesitant to try it initially for fear of the potential dangers. This article aims to clarify these concerns by exploring both the risks and benefits of lucid dreaming.
The Benefits of Lucid Dreaming
Lucid dreaming allows a person to take control of their dream world, helping them overcome their fears and eliminate nightmares. This technique is particularly useful for mental health. By taking control of their dreams, individuals can face challenging scenarios in a controlled environment, which can help reduce anxiety and increase self-confidence.
Addressing Common Concerns
Physical Harm in Dreams Lucid dreaming is fundamentally safe. In a lucid dream, everything is a creation of your mind. Therefore, nothing in the dream can physically harm you. Despite the vividness and realness of the dream experience, it remains entirely within your mental landscape, posing no physical danger.
Mental Health Risks Concerns about developing PTSD or other mental illnesses from lucid dreaming are unfounded. As soon as you wake up, it's clear that the events experienced in the dream were not real. On the contrary, lucid dreaming is often seen as a therapeutic tool for conditions like PTSD, as it allows individuals to reframe and manage their thoughts.
Potential Risks of Lucid Dreaming
While generally safe, lucid dreaming does come with a few risks as well:
Mixing Dream Memories with Reality Long-term lucid dreamers might occasionally confuse dream memories with real ones, creating false memories. This issue is rare and preventable by maintaining a dream journal and avoiding lucid dreaming about real-life people or places too frequently.
Escapism Using lucid dreaming to escape reality can be problematic if it interferes with your daily life. While it is sometimes beneficial to escape and relieve the stress of reality, relying on lucid dreaming for happiness can hinder personal growth and productivity.
Feeling Tired After Lucid Dreaming Some people report feeling tired after lucid dreaming. This tiredness is not due to the dreams themselves but often results from not getting enough sleep or using techniques that disrupt sleep patterns. Taking breaks and ensuring adequate sleep can prevent this.
Mental Exhaustion Lucid dreaming can be mentally taxing if practiced excessively without breaks. It’s important to balance lucid dreaming with regular sleep to avoid mental fatigue.
Lucid dreaming is safe and beneficial if done with caution. It has many benefits, such as overcoming fear and improving mental health, and minimal risks. There are many resources and tutorials available for those interested in trying it.

Introduction
Mantra Yoga is an exact science. "Mananat trayate iti mantrah- by the Manana (constant thinking or recollection) of which one is protected or is released from the round of births and deaths, is Mantra." That is called Mantra by the meditation (Manana) on which the Jiva or the individual soul attains freedom from sin, enjoyment in heaven and final liberation, and by the aid of which it attains in full the fourfold fruit (Chaturvarga), i.e., Dharma, Artha, Kama and Moksha. A Mantra is so called because it is achieved by the mental process.

2. SIN: ITS
CHARACTER AND
UNIVERSALITY
Tuesday 3 May 2011
3. IS SIN A PROBLEM?
J. Rodman Williams suggests there
are a number of approaches to sin:
1. Basically there is no poblem - a
few defects but essentially all is fine
- we don’t need to believe any dark
view of human nature - if we believe
it is ok it will be
2. Man is on the way up - not yet
as good as he should be because
man is not yet mature - consider his
evolutionary background and this is
not surprising
Tuesday 3 May 2011
4. 3. Man is not sufficiently enlightened -
ignorance is the problem, he does not
yet know enough about what is good for
him and society, how to improve it all,
dangers of war etc.
4. The problem is man’s suppression
of his own individuality and needs - be
unencumbered by authority patterns,
taboos, representative guilt etc.
5. The problem is negative talk or
attitude to life - think, feel, act
positively in all situations and we will
overcome problems - don’t talk of sin,
we are going forward
Tuesday 3 May 2011
5. A. HUMAN SPECULATION ON
SIN
Sin is a major factor in human
experience and in the Bible’s
teaching.
The world is not comfortable
talking about sin and often
suggests it is simply a
misconception.
Gnosticism and some oriental
religions suggest sin is the
opposite of what God is and is
related to the physical (not
spiritual) world.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
6. This can lead to ideas of
asceticism and denial of
the body.
Epicureanism advocates
indulging the body
All this denies sin and what
the Bible teaches about it.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
7. B. THE BIBLICAL
DOCTRINE OF SIN
“Sin is any want of conformity to the
character of God - in act, disposition
or state” Chafer
Sin is sin because it is against what God
is - for example, Ex 20:3-17
Sin is always against God - Ps 51: 4
A person who sins is unlike God and
therefore subject to judgement
4 aspects of the doctrine of sin in the
Bible:
Tuesday 3 May 2011
8. 1. Personal sin, Rom 3:23, includes
every aspect of daily life that fails
to conform to the character of God
It includes the idea of rebellion and
disobedience but essentially
includes acts of omission or
commission (committing an
offence)
Man comes short or misses the
mark of God’s standard
At least 8 OT and 12 NT words for
sin
Tuesday 3 May 2011
9. 2. The sin nature of man is
revealed in the Bible - Rom
5:19
Adams sin caused him to
become a different being,
degenerate and depraved.
This was judged by Christ
on the cross Rom 6:10
For the death he died he
died to sin, once for all, but
the life he lives he lives to
God.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
10. Total depravity - is not that every
man is as bad as he could be but that
the whole nature of man is corrupted
by sin. This includes will (Rom 1:28),
intellect (2 Cor 4:4), conscience (1
Tim 4:2) and heart
Eph 2:3 - carrying out the desires of
the body and the mind, and were by
nature children of wrath, like the rest
of mankind.
No child has ever been born sinless -
apart from Christ - we all inherit it
from our parents (Adam) - thus men
sin because they have a sinful nature
- the only remedy is found in Christ.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
11. 3. Sin is presented as
reckoned to our account -
Rom 5:12-18 - 3 imputations
A. Adam’s sin to us - the basis
of original sin
B. Imputing the sin of man to
christ - the basis for salvation
C. Imputation of the
righteousness of God to those
who believe in Christ - the
basis for the doctrine of
justification.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
12. Imputation is:
a. Actual, even though this
happened before God could
rightly declare the sin ours
b. Judicial - a legal position
because of our own personal
sins.
On the basis of Rom 5:12
Chafer states it is actual -
Therefore, just as sin came
into the world through one
man, and death through sin,
and so death spread to all
men because all sinned
Tuesday 3 May 2011
13. 4. Legally we are still in sin, sinners!
Rom 3:9 - What then? Are we Jews
any better off? No, not at all. For we
have already charged that all, both
Jews and Greeks, are under sin,
Under sin means there is nothing of
merit in us that might contribute
towards salvation
Such state can only be remedied by
the merit of Jesus Christ.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
15. A. THE MEANING OF
SALVATION
Knowing about what the
Bible says of salvation is
essential as;
1. Personal salvation
depends on it
2. It is the one message
committed by God to every
believer to tell the world
3. It alone discloses the full
measure of God’s love
Tuesday 3 May 2011
16. Salvation is its widest sense
means the work of God in
rescuing man from the eternal ruin
and doom of sin and bestowing
on him the riches of his grace inc.
eternal life and eternal glory in
heaven
Salvation is a work of God not of
man
The details have differed through
the ages but those who trust God
have been spiritually reborn and
made heirs of heaven’s glory.
Salvation includes all aspects of
God’s work in man - regeneration,
indwelling, sealing and baptism of
HSp.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
17. B. SALVATION AS GOD’S
REMEDY FOR SIN
1. Sin is always equally sinful no
matter who commits it - the
judgment that goes with it is up to
God to decide - Luke 12:47-48
2. Sin can only be cured by the
shed blood of Jesus - the penalty is
only removed because the payment
for sin has been made - this was the
same in the old covenant and is still
in Jesus - Lev 4:20, 26, 31 etc. - Col
1:14, Eph 1:7
Christ’s work on the cross is perfectly
sufficient, giving eternal justification
Rom 3:24 - the penalty is paid 1 Pet
2:24, 3:18
Tuesday 3 May 2011
18. C. SALVATION BEFORE AND
AFTER THE CROSS
1. God’s method before the cross was
atonement, which biblically means “to
cover”
Bull and goats blood did not take away
sin - Heb 10:4 For it is impossible for
the blood of bulls and goats to take
away sins.
The need for forgiveness was
acknowledged - Lev 1:4 -He shall lay his
hand on the head of the burnt offering,
and it shall be accepted for him to make
atonement for him.
God anticipated the sacrifice of Christ -
sins were covered until that time.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
19. Atonement of the OT is explained
in the NT,
a. Rom 3:25 - God had promised
sufficient sacrificial payment and
then fulfilled it in Christ.
whom God put forward as a
propitiation by his blood, to be
received by faith. This was to
show God’s righteousness,
because in his divine forbearance
he had passed over former sins.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
20. b. Acts 17:30 - God “overlooked”
sin - The times of ignorance God
overlooked, but now he
commands all people everywhere
to repent,
2. Since the cross God’s method
of dealing with sin is that Christ
died - Rom 3:26 - It was to show
his righteousness at the present
time, so that he might be just and
the justifier of the one who has
faith in Jesus.
The promise is fulfilled, the price
paid - anyone, regardless of the
degree of guilt of their sin can be
forgiven by believing in the work
Christ did for them.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
21. D. THE THREE SENSE OF
SALVATION
1. Past tense - it is seen as totally past
and fulfilled for those who believe - Lk
7:50, 1 Cor 1:18, Eph 2:5, 8
2. Present tense - of the present power
to save us from the reigning power of
sin - Rom 6:14, 8:2, 2 Cor 3:18 etc.
3. Future tense - the believer will yet
be saved into full conformity to Christ -
Rom 8:29, 13:11 - this does not give
reason for doubt as it is built on God’s
faithfulness not man’s - Php 1:6
Tuesday 3 May 2011
22. E. SALVATION AS THE
FINISHED WORK OF CHRIST
2 aspects:
1. Finished work of Christ
for all - which is finished
to infinite perfection
2. The saving work of
Christ for the individual -
the moment they believe.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
23. Jn 19:30 - it is finished - is not his
whole life, service or suffering -
but a special work given by the
Father given at the cross and
completed when he died - this
was for the whole world Jn 3:16 -
providing redemption 1 Tim 2:6 -
reconciliation 2 Cor 5:19 -
propitiation 1 Jn 2:2 - for every
man
Christ's dying does not save men
- but it gives God ground to save
all men who believe - the blood of
Jesus paid the ransom price for
every sinner - Christ became the
propitiation for the whole world.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
24. F. SALVATION AS THE SAVING
WORK OF GOD
The work done the moment one
believe includes:
Redemption, reconciliation,
forgiveness, regeneration,
imputation, justification,
sanctification, glorification,
perfection
Consider the truth of the following
verses: Col 1:12, Eph 1:3, 6, 2:13, 19,
2 Cor 5:21, Jn 1:12, Phil 3:20, 2 Cor
5;17, Col 2:10, Col 1:13
Guilt and penalty of sin are removed,
trespass forgiven justified forever,
saved to the uttermost...
Tuesday 3 May 2011
25. G. SALVATION AS RELATED TO
THE SIN OF THE SAVED
1. Forgiveness is accomplished for the
sinner as part of salvation - through
believing on the work of Christ.
2. Sin is forgiven not on the basis of
believing for salvation but upon
confession of sin - confession of sin
restores relationship with Father, Son
and HSp.
The effect of sin upon God is a very
serious matter - it is only removed
through the blood of Jesus - Rom 8:34,
Heb 9:24 - the blood is effective 1 Jn
2:1-2 - the sinner has a permanent
advocate with the Father in case we sin
Tuesday 3 May 2011
26. H. SALVATION CONDITIONED
ON FAITH ALONE
115 NT passages refer to the sinner
believing and being saved - 35 passages
speak of faith for salvation. In believing a
person chooses to trust Christ - this is the
whole man not just will or emotions.
This is more than an intellectual or
emotional stirring - it is believing as an act
in which the person wills to receive Christ
by faith.
God alone can save a soul - and he does it
through the sacrifice of his son. The only
thing man can do is to believe, turning
from self works, to God’s gracious
provision.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
27. Note that scripture talks
about believe and...
Pray
Confess sin
Confess Christ
Be baptised
Repent
And make restitution
But the basis is always
believing in Christ -
that is what
guarantees salvation.
Tuesday 3 May 2011
28. The word atonement meaning,
passing over, overlooking,
covering of sin occurs properly
only in the OT - Christ did none
of these - Jn 1:29
Takes away the sin of the world...
1 Pet 2:24 - bore our sins in his
body...
There was nothing temporary or
partial at the cross - the infinite
holiness of God was satisfied,
will man be satisfied to accept
the sacrifice and accept Jesus’
payment?
Tuesday 3 May 2011
