Ants communicate through chemical signals, touch, sound, smell and sight. They leave scent trails to track each other as they don't communicate over long distances. Ants hunt in groups, with worker ants attacking to search for small insects and food for the colony. There are over 12,000 to 14,000 types of ant species worldwide, with colonies typically containing around 40,000 ants that work together to carry loads up to 20 times their own body weight.
