Thirty-nine newsstands in Philadelphia have gone live, with CBS AlwaysOn -- a 24-hours news tickeron flat-screen High Definition Televisions set to broadcast news, weather and sports updates along with tourist information about Philadelphia and advertisements from its local businesses. The initiative is the end product of an ordinance introduced by City Philadelphia Council Member Frank DiCicco this past summer and signed by Mayor Michael Nutter allowing digital signage for the purpose of informing Center City Philadelphia’s pedestrians and workforce. It is aneffective way for the city, businesses and community groups to communicate to the millions of students, workers, tourists, and more that populate center city. About OUR media Digital Flat Screen TV’s 24" Digital Television Monitors installed at 39 Newsstands throughout Center City at the busiest intersections broadcasting news, sports, weather, community announcements and select advertising. Emergency information will include: Amber Alerts, Storm Warnings/Weather Advisories, school closings and Traffic updates. Digital Scrolling Marquee Over 8 feet of a digital LED scrolling marquee on top of the newsstand that is visible to all pedestrians. Great for food/drink specials, sports, weather and A&E. Think of the sign as your live salesperson on the street corner driving traffic to your location. Simple and extremely effective. Events Throughout the year, Center City Direct will host promotional street level events for restaurants, bars, retailers and other businesses. Yet, another extension of Center City Direct’s offerings, these events can tie third party advertisers and sponsors and drive on-premise traffic and create sampling opportunities as well as flyer or insert distribution.
