FALLES FIESTA
This festival takes place in Valencia from 15th
to 19th
of March every
year. This festival attracts many visitors from all over the world. Falles continues
for five days and nights. There are historical, religious and comic processions.
During this festival there are lots of people in Valencia, a huge crowd and you
can see them all in the streets. You can also hear the explosions all day long
and through the night. Moreover, you can see local people wearing their
traditional costumes.
La Despertá: Falles begins at 8.00 with La Despertá during the festival.
La Despertá means the wake up call. You can hear very lively music on the
streets.
La Mascletà: The Mascletà takes place at 2.00p.m. during the festival
and you can see fireworks.
La Plantà: On 15th
of March, falles have to be constructed and at night
they have to be finished, otherwise there will be a disqualification.
L'Ofrena de flors: In L'Ofrena de flors each falla offers flowers to Virgin
Mary as Our Lady Of the Abandoned. This event takes place during 17th
-18th
of
March. A statue of Virgin Mary is covered with flowers.
Els Castells and La Nit del Foc: There are firework displays on the
nights between 14th
-18th
. And the last firework displays is called as La Nit del
Foc.
Cabalgata del Fuego: The last night of Falles Festival, on 19th
March at
7p.m, there is a parade along Colon street and Porta del la Mar square.
La Cremà: The last night of the Festival, Falles are burnt.
And this is called as La Cremà (the burning) and this is the reason why the
construction are called falles.
