This 3-credit course covers advanced reinforced concrete design topics, including the design of two-way slab systems, continuous beams, slender columns, torsion design, and lateral load resisting systems like moment frames and shear walls. Students will learn to design combined footings and draw typical plans and sections of reinforced concrete structures. The primary textbook is Reinforced Concrete - Mechanics and Design by J.K. Wight and J.G. MacGregor. The course content includes designing rectangular, T-section, and shear members using Excel as well as two-way slabs, flat plates, eccentric columns, shear walls, frames, and stairs.
