Introduction
Environmental Chemistry
1 It is important to know the chemical aspect of things
in environment and how alternating their chemical
properties can harm us.
2 Also to know how waste harm us chemically.
Social Awareness
1 People in recent time are very ignorant about
waste, waste management and plantation.
2 Increasing social awareness among people is
very important.
Problem Identification and Causes of problem
Problems
1 Uncontrolled waste production and deforestation specially in developing areas.
2 Lack of awareness in people about waste management and plantation.
Causes of problems
1 Presence of hundreds of potentially toxic chemical
substances(wastes) in the
environment, generally caused by human activity.
2 Only a handful awareness programmes run by government
Objectives to be Achieved
Making people aware about waste management and plantation.
Making people understand why plantation in locality is very
important for betterment of living.
To make people follow appropriate waste handling and disposal
measures / routings.
Desirability of waste management
Steps taken to achieve the objective
I worked with an organisation named
Vairamani Foundation where
I was taught about the chemical
aspect of environment and how
different things affect the environment
chemically.
There I was taught how waste affect our
hydrosphere, lithosphere and atmosphere
chemically.
Working for an NGO named VAIRAMANI FOUNDATION
The condition of my locality was pathetic and wastes
were handled poorly.
Stray animals loitering and animal dung all around,
no proper waste collection,
segregation and disposal.
People were unaware of the affects of waste around
them.
The best way to express your views to public is
through posters, so I decided
to use posters as my medium of interaction with
people in my locality.
I went to many to my neighbour’s house talked to
them and discussed with them
about how can we work together and make our
locality better.
Made some posters regarding pollution, waste, waste management and plantation.
Plantation is as important as managing waste
Plantation is also important so I took the
initiative and planted some plants near my house
and around my locality and asked people just to
water the plants daily.
Effectiveness of Project
o Many people of my locality understood the
importance of waste management and plantation.
o They took up the habit of taking care of plants in
the locality.
o They also started disposing waste in proper
manner.
o My locality is cleaner and greener now.
Conclusion
Waste management is an important issue that needs
governmental action quickly.
At present there is very little awareness exists
regarding this issue in our society.
It is very important to educate people and tell them to
adopt practices for Recycle,
Reuse and Reduce rather than generating waste.
Everyone of the society should work together to save
our environment.
Thank You
