
Origin: South America.

Seeds were brought to Europe in the XIX
century.

Small plants were sent to some Southern
Asian countries.

Current sources: Brazil, Malaysia, Congo…


Easily oxidized by air.

Sensitive to heat.

Soft.

Elastic.


Rubber tubes.

Shoe soles & door
stoppers.

Rubber bands.


Bouchardat created a type in 1897.

Fritz Hofmann obtained first synthetic
rubber in 1909.

It take a big demand in vehicles.

Resistant again heat and flames.

Flexible in low temperatures.


Resistant to wear aging.




First rubber produced in comany scale.

Obtained from synthetic rubber.


Very flexible.

High durability.

Fire, fat, oil, sun light and water salinity
resistant.

It’s corroded by the sun and rain.

Serious pollution effects.






