1. Remove bolts (1) and valve (2).
2. Remove O-ring seals (3).
Personal injury can result from being struck by parts propelled by a
released spring force.
Make sure to wear all necessary protective equipment.
Follow the recommended procedure and use all recommended tooling to
release the spring force.
3. Remove plug (9), the O-ring seal, retainer (8), spring (7), retainer (6), spool (5), plug (4),
and the O-ring seal.

4. Remove plug (16), the O-ring seal, retainer (15), spring (14), rod (13), retainer (12), spool
(11), plug (10), and the O-ring seal.
5. Remove bolts (17) and head (18).
6. Remove piston (22), piston (21), spring (24), gasket (19), port plate (20), and bearing cup
(23).

7. Remove bearing cone (25).
8. Remove shim (26), barrel (27), and dowel (28).

9. Use Tooling (A), Tooling (B), and a suitable press to remove retaining ring (32) from barrel
(27).
10. Remove washer (31), spring (30), and washer (29).
11. Remove bolts (33) and cover (34).

12. Remove O-ring seal (35).
13. Remove plug (36).
14. Remove shaft (37), bolts (39), and plates (38).

15. Remove plates (40), retainer (41), and pistons (42).
16. Remove swashplate (43).
17. Remove screws (45), bearings (44), bearing cone (46), and bearing cup (47).

Assembly Procedure
1. Install screws (45), bearings (44), bearing cone (46), and bearing cup (47).

2. Install swashplate (43).
3. Install shaft (37).
4. Install plug (36).
5. Install dowel (28).
Improper assembly of parts that are spring loaded can cause bodily
injury.
To prevent possible injury, follow the established assembly procedure
and wear protective equipment.
6. Install washer (31), spring (30), and washer (29).

7. Use Tooling (A), Tooling (B), and a suitable press to install retaining ring (32) onto barrel
(27).
8. Install pistons (42) into retainer (41) and barrel (27).
9. Install barrel (27).
10. Install shim (26) and bearing cone (25).

11. Position plates (40) and plates (38).
12. Install bolts (39).
13. Install piston (22), piston (21), spring (24), gasket (19), port plate (20), and bearing cup
(23).

15. Install retainer (15), spring (14), rod (13), retainer (12), spool (11), plug (10), and the O-ring
seal. Install plug (16) and the O-ring seal.

plug (9) and the O-ring seal.
17. Install O-ring seals (3).
18. Install bolts (1) and valve (2).
End By:
a. Install the piston pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Piston Pump (Implement) -
Install".

NOTICE
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.
Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
1. Inspect the O-ring seals. Replace the O-ring seals that are worn or damaged.

2. Install O-ring seal (14). Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device in order to install
piston pump (13). The weight of piston pump (13) is approximately 70 kg (155 lb). Install
bolts (12) .
3. Connect hose assembly (11). Connect tube assembly (10) .

6. Connect hose assemblies (7) .
7. Connect hose assemblies (6). Turn the fuel supply to the ON position.
8. Install clips (5) .

12. Fill the hydraulic tank. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Hydraulic System Oil

Start By:
A. Connect the steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Steering Frame
Lock - Separate and Connect".
NOTICE
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during
performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair
of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers
before opening any compartment or disassembling any component
containing fluids.
Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Dealer Service
Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain
fluids on Caterpillar products.
Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Personal injury can result from hydraulic oil pressure and hot oil.
Hydraulic oil pressure can remain in the hydraulic system after the
engine has been stopped. Serious injury can be caused if this pressure is
not released before any service is done on the hydraulic system.
Make sure all of the attachments have been lowered, oil is cool before
removing any components or lines. Remove the oil filler cap only when
the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with
your bare hand.
NOTICE
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.
Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Put identification marks on all harness assemblies, and on all tube assemblies for
installation purposes. Plug all tube assemblies. This helps to prevent fluid loss, and this helps to
keep contaminants from entering the system.
1. Release the system pressure. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "System
Pressure - Release".
2. Install Tooling (A) onto the hydraulic tank. Attach an air supply hose onto Tooling (A).
Apply 138 kPa (20 psi). This procedure will pull a vacuum on the hydraulic system.

4. Disconnect harness assemblies (2) .
