This document categorizes and summarizes North American rare earth element (REE) companies. It divides the companies into four categories: 1) development and exploration heavy rare earth element companies like Avalon Rare Metals and Quest Rare Minerals, 2) dual REE and metal resource companies like Commerce Resources with tantalum/niobium and Rare Element Resources with gold, 3) investment vehicles like exchange traded funds that invest in REE companies, and 4) integrated companies like Great Western Mineral Group that mine to market REEs and Neo Material Technologies that produces magnetic powders from REEs. It also lists restart-up companies seeking to resume production like Molycorp Minerals and Stans Energy.
Northern Lights Resources (“NLR”) is a growth-oriented company
focused on identifying, acquiring and developing value-added
resource projects in selective commodities, including precious
metals and base metals.
Canada continues to be the world’s leading capital market for natural resource companies. During 2009, mining companies listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange (the “TSX”), Canada’s senior market, or on the junior TSX Venture Exchange (the “TSX-V”), raised in excess over C$22 billion in equity financings. This represented about the same as the amount raised on the London Stock Exchange (“LSE”)/AIM, however 90% of the LSE/AIM figure was represented by two transactions (Rio Tinto $12.4 billion and Xstrata $7.2 billion). In addition, the oil and gas sector remained strong with TSX and TSX-V listed companies raising over C$9.2 billion in 2009. Notwithstanding the “challenging” first five months of 2010, TSX and TSX-V listed mining companies raised over C$6.2 billion and oil and gas companies C$4.3 billion.
Capella Resources is a publicly traded, junior exploration and mineral development company with a strong portfolio of precious and base metal projects in Chile, USA and Atlantic Canada.

Most recently, U.S. President Joe Biden and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau committed to building an EV (“Electric Vehicle“) supply chain between both countries. “The move comes as demand for electrified transportation is set to surge over the next decade“, Reuters noted and added that “Washington is increasingly viewing Canada as a kind of ´51st State´ for mineral supply purposes and plans to deepen financial and logistical partnerships with the country’s mining sector over time, according to a U.S. government source“. In light of China still dominating the rare earth elements (“REEs“) supply chains and a supply gap emerging over the next few years, new REE projects are needed to meet future demand.

Securing your Kubernetes cluster_ a step-by-step guide to success !KatiaHIMEUR1
Today, after several years of existence, an extremely active community and an ultra-dynamic ecosystem, Kubernetes has established itself as the de facto standard in container orchestration. Thanks to a wide range of managed services, it has never been so easy to set up a ready-to-use Kubernetes cluster.
However, this ease of use means that the subject of security in Kubernetes is often left for later, or even neglected. This exposes companies to significant risks.
In this talk, I'll show you step-by-step how to secure your Kubernetes cluster for greater peace of mind and reliability.

Effective Application Security in Software Delivery lifecycle using Deployment Firewall and DBOM
The modern software delivery process (or the CI/CD process) includes many tools, distributed teams, open-source code, and cloud platforms. Constant focus on speed to release software to market, along with the traditional slow and manual security checks has caused gaps in continuous security as an important piece in the software supply chain. Today organizations feel more susceptible to external and internal cyber threats due to the vast attack surface in their applications supply chain and the lack of end-to-end governance and risk management.
The software team must secure its software delivery process to avoid vulnerability and security breaches. This needs to be achieved with existing tool chains and without extensive rework of the delivery processes. This talk will present strategies and techniques for providing visibility into the true risk of the existing vulnerabilities, preventing the introduction of security issues in the software, resolving vulnerabilities in production environments quickly, and capturing the deployment bill of materials (DBOM).
Speakers:
Bob Boule
Robert Boule is a technology enthusiast with PASSION for technology and making things work along with a knack for helping others understand how things work. He comes with around 20 years of solution engineering experience in application security, software continuous delivery, and SaaS platforms. He is known for his dynamic presentations in CI/CD and application security integrated in software delivery lifecycle.

Epistemic Interaction - tuning interfaces to provide information for AI supportAlan Dix
Paper presented at SYNERGY workshop at AVI 2024, Genoa, Italy. 3rd June 2024
https://alandix.com/academic/papers/synergy2024-epistemic/
As machine learning integrates deeper into human-computer interactions, the concept of epistemic interaction emerges, aiming to refine these interactions to enhance system adaptability. This approach encourages minor, intentional adjustments in user behaviour to enrich the data available for system learning. This paper introduces epistemic interaction within the context of human-system communication, illustrating how deliberate interaction design can improve system understanding and adaptation. Through concrete examples, we demonstrate the potential of epistemic interaction to significantly advance human-computer interaction by leveraging intuitive human communication strategies to inform system design and functionality, offering a novel pathway for enriching user-system engagements.
