The group designed and built a crossbow made primarily of PVC pipes and lumber. They went through several iterations of designing, building, testing, and redesigning components. Their final design used stronger Schedule 80 PVC for the bow and military-grade cord for the string. They added a winch crank to more easily draw back the bow. While compact and inexpensive to make, their original designs proved too weak and difficult to draw back. Their redesign addressed these issues for improved performance.
