Ronald Reagan was elected president in 1980 on a platform of conservative values and reducing the size of government. His economic policies of tax cuts and increased military spending led to large budget deficits. However, the policies are credited with eventually helping to end the stagflation of the 1970s. Reagan intensified the Cold War by increasing defense spending but was able to establish a rapport with Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, leading to nuclear arms reduction agreements. Domestically, the religious right gained influence while social issues like AIDS and the war on drugs emerged.

The Korean War began in 1950 when North Korean troops invaded South Korea, crossing the 38th parallel border between the two countries. In response, United Nations forces led by the United States launched a counterattack and pushed the North Korean army back above the 38th parallel. Fighting continued back and forth across the parallel until an armistice was signed in 1953, leaving Korea still divided along the 38th parallel between the communist North and non-communist South. Over 10 million people died during the three-year Korean War.

The Great Depression created economic hardship and unstable governments. Japan also increasingly expanded its empire into China. When Germany invaded Poland in 1939, Britain and France declared war on Germany, marking the start of World War 2.
Natural regions are areas of Earth's surface that are homogenous in terms of conditions that affect human life, such as climate. Climate is the most important factor influencing vegetation, animal life, and human occupation. The world can be divided into natural regions based on similarities in climate, vegetation, animal life, and human activities. There are five major natural regions defined by climate: equatorial, tropical, warm temperate, cool temperate, and polar. Studying natural regions provides a more logical understanding of global patterns than political units.

Formation of tornadoes story board higher - Use with BBC Animation geographypods
Tornadoes require certain conditions to form, particularly intense or seasonal heat. A visible cone or funnel forms within the clouds and extends downward towards the ground. While no two tornadoes are exactly alike, they share common formation traits involving heat and the development of a funnel from the clouds.
The document discusses the Fujita Tornado Intensity Scale which is used to rate the strength of tornadoes. The scale ranges from F0 to F5 with increasing numbers indicating stronger tornadoes and greater damage. Descriptions of damage for each rating on the scale are provided to help identify the strength of a tornado.
The document provides information about natural hazards, specifically tornadoes. It includes:
1) Objectives to learn where tornadoes strike most frequently, which areas are most affected, and how tornadoes are measured.
2) The United States experiences more tornadoes than any other country and identifies states like Oklahoma, Kansas, and Texas as areas that would be visited during tornado season.
3) Information on the Fujita scale, which is used to rate tornadoes from F0-F5 based on damage caused. A factsheet is created to show each level of the scale.

Migration between Mexico and the United States is a complex issue with many causes and effects. Poverty and lack of opportunities in Mexico push many to migrate north, where there are more jobs and higher wages in the United States. However, illegal migration across the long border is a problem that costs both countries millions to address. While migrant workers benefit the US economy through their low-cost labor, they are also seen as drain and can cause social tensions. Remittances from migrants have become an important source of income for Mexico, but migration also creates imbalances like labor shortages and changes to family structure in Mexican towns.
The 1985 eruption of Nevado del Ruiz volcano in Colombia was made deadly due to secondary effects of the eruption. The eruption melted the ice cap atop the volcano, causing massive lahars or mudflows that buried the town of Armero, killing nearly 23,000 people. While the primary eruption was not particularly powerful, a lack of early warning and effective evacuation led to the large loss of life. Lessons from this disaster emphasized improving monitoring of volcanoes to better predict eruptions and evacuate threatened populations.
The document discusses several problems with tourism in Venice. It notes that most tourism is "bite and run" where visitors only stay briefly. This type of mass tourism overwhelms the city and its infrastructure. Locals struggle with overcrowded boats and streets, as well as disrespectful behavior from some tourists. Suggested solutions include implementing small ticket taxes to fund cleanliness, separating tourist and local boat transportation, and promoting less visited areas to spread tourists out. However, Venice must also support its declining local population and control the negative impacts of its popularity and dependence on tourism.

How to Make a Field Mandatory in Odoo 17Celine George
In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

Case Study of a National Sports League - IB Geography
1. IB Geography – International School of Toulouse
5. Leisure at the national/regional scale: Sport
Case study of a national sports league – Explain the hierarchy of a league and
the location of its teams. Examine the relationship between team location and the
residence of it supporters.
Case Study – Ligue 1 Football, France.
Ligue 1 or the Championnat is the premier division in France in which 20 different
clubs compete. These 20 clubs are spread over mainland France and play 38
league games per year. This lesser known European domestic football division
will provide us with our case study for this section of the syllabus.
Over to you:
Log on to your computers
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligue_1
http://www.ligue1.com/ (English version)
http://www.lfp.fr/ligue1/ (French version)
Task 1 - Setting the scene.
Use the information available to introduce Ligue 1. Approach this as if you were
explaining it to an examiner at the start of a question about the league. Target
200 words.
Task 2 - Locating the Teams
Using the web link underneath. Create an A3 display to show the locations of
each of the current French Ligue 1 teams. You will need to print out this graphic
and cut and stick the relevant information around it.
http://billsportsmaps.com/wp-
content/uploads/2010/08/france_ligue1_2010-11_stadia_e.gif
Task 3 - Prior Hierarchy of the Teams
Go to the following web links and print out a full A4 sized copy of each map.
200è-2008 Season - http://billsportsmaps.com/wp-
content/uploads/2009/07/france_2008-09_ligue1_h.gif
2006-2007 Season - http://billsportsmaps.com/wp-

http://soccernet.espn.go.com/stats/attendance?
league=fra.1&seasontype=4&cc=5739
This is the average number of spectators so far this season in Ligue 1 for each
club.
2. Task 4 – Attendances and popularity
Complete a piece of writing about the attendances at each of the top six clubs.
Marseille, Lyon, Lens, St Etienne, Bordeaux and PSG.
Include:
1. Name and location
2. Pattern of attendance in three web links
3. Use http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ligue_1#Members_for_2010.E2.80.9311
to discuss why attendance at each of these clubs is still comparatively
large compared to the smaller teams.
4. Look at:
• Seasons in Ligue 1
• League titles Won
• First season of current spell in top division. (Target 400 words)
Team location and residence of supporters (Sphere of influence)
We know that teams such as Real Madrid and Manchester United have global
appeal and have a fan base that stretches across all continents. However, your
job is to find out if any of the top 6 teams in Ligue 1 have the same appeal.
You can presume that the vast number of people that turn up on match day will
live in the area surrounding the stadium.
Task 5 – Location, Location, Location
Why are the top 6 stadiums in Ligue 1 located where they are within each
settlement? See the Toulouse FC example on the following page.
You will need to use Google Maps/Earth to locate each of the 6 stadiums. Their
addresses can be found on the www.ligue1.fr under the club profile. You should
take a screen shot of each of the 6 Google map images and cut and paste into
word (don’t forget to source them). Annotate each image to show the relationship
between team location and residence of supporters.
This task can be completed in pairs and the work shared at the end.
3. Example – Toulouse FC
Large residential
areas of social
housing and
apartments
within walking
Outer ring road. distance
Direct links to
Paris, Bordeaux
and Montpellier
Proximity to

swimming pool.
Leisure
experience.
Public transport
links such as the
Toulouse metro
and bus services.
Inner ring road for
Stadium ease of transportation
location to and from the game
to those who live
outside the city centre
4. Task 6 – Supporters away from the town of residence.
You must now find examples of fan bases away from the city of residence and
plot these on a world map.
For example: Marseille supporters club – New York, USA.
http://www.omnewyork.com/
Try to find examples for the top 6 Ligue 1 clubs. They may not be abroad but
could be in a different area of France or DOM TOM. You may need to use your
French language skills to perform searches on Google.fr to find them.
Task 7 – Exam Question
With reference to specific examples that you have studied, explain the
relationship between team location and the residence of its supporters. (10)
Don’t forget to consult the IB mark scheme when planning to answer this
question.
Follow Up Work – Fieldtrip to Toulouse FC v Marseille to study sphere of
influence of supporters.
Well done.
Make sure all work is printed out and placed into your IB Geography folder in the
order set out here. The exam question should be submitted to Mr Podbury to
mark.
