HR tech strategy case study
IKEA engaged Pauline Tarrant (HR Consulting) to consult with the HR team
and key stakeholders regarding a HR technology strategy to fit the changing
needs of the IKEA Cebas Group. A review of current HR technology,
identification of short-term enablers and alignment of system approaches with
company culture formed the basis of the strategic plan.
 Current paper-based and/or manual solutions fail to
support the needs of the business.
 Information is double or triple handled with significant
opportunity for data entry errors.
 Reporting is time consuming and information is rarely
available in real time.
 Managers and co-workers heavily dependant on HR to
undertake all administration and information
management.
 Five key system changes were identified to remove the
20 most common paper based and manual processes.
 Exploring new software suppliers offered enhanced
functionality and six digit cost savings while paying the
same license fees.
 A review of other HR items identified cost saving and
funding opportunities to enable the planned
implementation of a new HRIS a reality.
 Delivered detailed plan on how to address technology
opportunities.
