Cinque Terre is a UNESCO World Heritage site located along the Italian Riviera that consists of 5 small towns - Monterossa, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore - carved out of the steep coastal cliffs over generations. The terrain has been cultivated into terraced vineyards, olive groves and lemon trees. Narrow walking paths connect the towns, including the scenic 1km long Lovers' Lane between Riomaggiore and Manarola. While tourism is now a major industry, the region still retains much of its traditional Ligurian character with colorful fishing boats and laundry flapping between seaside cafes.
