The Cinque Terre is a rugged coastal area in Italy comprising five villages: Monterosso al Mare, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore. Over centuries, people built terraces on the steep landscape up to the sea cliffs. The coastline, villages, and hills are now a national park and UNESCO heritage site. The area is very popular among tourists who travel between the villages by train, boat, or hiking trails since cars cannot access them directly.
