T Levels are new two-year technical courses for students aged 16-19 following GCSEs. They are intended to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed for skilled employment or higher level study. T Levels include classroom learning (80%) and an industry placement (20%) and are more substantial than existing technical qualifications. They will be introduced in phases from 2020 onwards in subjects like construction, digital and education. T Levels are intended to offer broader initial study than apprenticeships which focus on a specific occupation from the start. Both T Levels and apprenticeships can lead to higher study or higher level apprenticeships.
