This patient is a 58-year-old with a history of diabetes, hypertension, chronic renal insufficiency and congestive heart failure who was intubated in the emergency room for pneumonia. During her hospital stay she experienced an allergic reaction to an ACE inhibitor. She remains sedated and is being fed through a PEG tube. Her nursing care plan focuses on preventing aspiration given her medical devices and sub-sedated state, as well as preventing disuse syndrome and impaired mobility from her altered level of consciousness.
