2. Case history
3 year old entire male chocolate Labrador
Presented with severe pruritus.
Non seasonal
Routine flea control was maintained with a veterinary prescribed anti-flea product.
The dog is otherwise well
Diagnosed with atopic dermatitis based on the history, clinical signs and
intradermal allergy testing
Pruritus had been well managed for a time, however during the summer the
pruritus worsened and the dog failed to respond to additional drugs
(corticosteroids and ciclosporin) given to it to control it.
9. Diagnosis
Superficial pyoderma and staphylococcal overgrowth syndrome and otitis externa
as secondary complications to the underlying atopic dermatitis
